A proud new owner of a CanoScan 9000F I find I like what I am getting as far as Film and Slide scans go. I got it to scan mostly film.

I am a little disappointed in the documentation from canon, very little. And though there are a few resources on the web from people using the CanoScan they are looking for results a bit different than myself.

I opened this thread to create a place for me and others using the CanoScan 9000F to post their thoughts on what works best. I will post my experiences with it and encourage others to as well...

I had a heck of a time getting the CanoScan 9000F to integrate with Photoshop CS4!

I could not locate the CanoScan TWAIN in Photoshop and could only find the WIA. Unfortunately you can not scan film with WIA.

I searched Google and saw that adobe has a generic TWAIN for Photoshop CS4 but they stopped offering it some time ago online. They say it can be found on the install Cd's but I searched through all 4 of mine and could not find the TWAIN driver...

I eventually figured out that ScanGear (the software provided and installed with the scanner) has a TWAIN driver (or the program substitutes for one) but will only work with 32 bit Photoshop not the 64 bit version...

I closed Photoshop reopened as 32 bit and Eureka! it shows up properly!

It would have been nice if this information was easily available Canon.

According to silverfast Canon CanoScan 9000F's ship with silverfast 8. Does anyone know if this is accurate?

Or where to find it?

Apparently thats just in europe.....I bought this scanner after using my friends where the scans came out fabulously from a vast array of various images (positive slides) in different settings...

Mine is terrible. I can't get a sharp image to save my life.
I'm not sure why but I have tried everything and they just look like crap.

Very disappointed in this scanner.
:(

I have this scanner and love it. Better scanning ANR glass has helped.

The Canon CanoScan 9000F had been bundled in the EAME (Europe, Africa, Middle-East) regions with SilverFast SE. First with the SF 6.6 SE, from 2012 on with SilverFast 8 SE.

To learn more about the capabilities of the scanning software solution that is SilverFast 8 SE, you might want to check out:

Specific information about SilverFast supporting the CanoScan 9000F is at:
