Very nice, especially like that second portrait, very well done. I'm glad I don't shoot for money, I'd never know what to pick from the wide selection you seemed to have for this project. (I always agonize about which shots to choose, even while just posting on flickr or Facebook.)

Ah, shame I didn't see this until today. Did you find out about anything interesting? Frankly, what I'd have been the most curious about is whether they're reworking the 56mm along the same mold they have so far for the 18 (kinda of a rework) and the 23/33. Also wondering about the 60 macro along the same lines. If you get another chance to ask and you remember!

Thanks very much, yes I'm also at odds at times wondering what to supply so I normally delete the ones that really don't work and deliver all the other ones with just a basic colour grade applied, they the clients can choose which and how many they want, I charge a set fee plus a free for each image in the final pick. Thet way I'm not spending a load of time editing and retouching images, while getting paid for the ones I do. Working out good so far.

I'm under NDA so can't talk about anything new but after spending the day going through the next 10 months of things coming people should be very happy but also poorer

I think most of the lenses are getting upgraded to WR, better resolution and a new AF system, similar to the 23mm etc...

If I hadn't just pulled the trigger on a Sigma 150-600mm, would have been super zoom when?

A lighter, smaller version of a 150-600 with Fuji optics and class leading OIS would be a really sweet lens for birders for sure. 900mm is a good amount of reach.

Hehe I'll take that as good news

As for the 150-600, isn't that already on the public lens roadmap? Will look forward to that one, but considering what the 100-400 goes for I doubt a 150-600 will be in my price range, unfortunately. And I'd also have to wonder how it handles on smth like even the X-S10.

Yes good news followed by very good news ;-)a it’ll be an interesting summer if you are in the market for a new camera. What I played with today is very interesting.

Yes the XF150-600 is announced and on the roadmap but with no release date or solid details made public yet. As always I can ask and get answers put forward suggestions but I’m not allowed to jump the gun on unannounced products, they might not give me them to test anymore if I did that

Oh yeah no of course no problem about not revealing anything, certainly nothing there should be construed as my trying to incite to do that. Not in the market for a new camera right now, promised myself not to purchase a new body until I reached a certain milestone which is about a year away, but you got me tinkled pink there anyway. Can't wait to see what it is.

Thinking about it, though, I do have a gear question you may be able to answer, and I think others on the thread might as well. I'm going to Toronto in a few weeks from now for a mini-vacation (not yet comfortable to start travelling internationally yet, but I do need to go somewhere) and I figured I'd try some nighttime photography there, even perhaps rent a Fuji lens to see how Fuji works in my hands in that kind of application (my current Fuji lenses are way too slow for that purpose imo). Since the shop I'll be going to doesn't have a 35 or the new 33/1.4 available for rental, I'd figured I'd experiment with the 56/1.2 - I'm more of a telephoto shooter. A bit tight for most street applications imo, but this could be an interesting challenge. However, I'm wondering if the 56/1.2 would have a good enough autofocus used on the X-T30 for that kind of application...am I bound to get frustrated by that? Is the manual focus any good on that lens? (I'm expecting to be using a pro-mist filter.)

Thanks for any insight people might have to share!

IMO the 56/1.2 is a slower lens to focus so if you are looking a capturing fast subjects, faster than walking pace you’ll get lots of little missed focus shots. It’s not as bad as it use to be though so depending on what you want out of it…
Manual focus is via the electronic motor not direct so a little delay when you rotate the focus ring, can take a little getting use to but putting the camera into linear focus mode helps.

Oh I'm mostly looking to do urban shots, not people, so hopefully slower focus might not impede me too much. (The other lens I'm planning to bring for night shots is a manual focus lens.)

If the X-H2 or whatever it will be called is not what you played with, it will definitely be an interesting summer.

Interested to see if Fujifilm get on the all-electronic shutter train with this camera.

Then you should be fine.

;-)a:-P

I'm not one that views a global shutter as needed outside of for video use and then only in very certain uses. Take Nikon and their N9 shooting sports where the billboards are led, getting scan lines so a bit to go yet. Faster readout is always a good thing though but I'd prefer things like unlimited buffer and 4K120 full sensor readouts etc. That I think would be a better option of more users rather than headline grabbing 'features' One day and probably soon global shutters will be fast enough to not notice.

I wondered if anyone would have advice on cleaning lenses, not so much on cleaning the element but more specifically the body of it. I have ordered a lens from KEH which was supposedly in "excellent" condition, but it turns out it's actually quite sticky and, in my opinion, quite unusable as a result. With the difficult caveat that even I don't know what is causing the stickiness, would you have any hacks to remove it? So far, I've tried disinfectant and window cleaner on the lens hood and rear cap, but that hasn't done anything to markedly improve the situation. I'm fearing that, since the lens itself is sticky, any solution that would involve dunking the problem objects in cleaning substances for prolonged lengths of time rather pointless, as they would be completely unfeasible with the lens itself and therefore ultimately pointless.

Will do some research on the web for that, but wondered if anyone had suggestions or had something like that before.
