Very happy with the performance of the Sigma 150-600C with the Finger Pro II
Seeing that the Fuji will be 5.6-8.0, I'm glad I bought the Sigma

Apricane wrote in post #19372177 I wondered if anyone would have advice on cleaning lenses, not so much on cleaning the element but more specifically the body of it. I have ordered a lens from KEH which was supposedly in "excellent" condition, but it turns out it's actually quite sticky and, in my opinion, quite unusable as a result. With the difficult caveat that even I don't know what is causing the stickiness, would you have any hacks to remove it? So far, I've tried disinfectant and window cleaner on the lens hood and rear cap, but that hasn't done anything to markedly improve the situation. I'm fearing that, since the lens itself is sticky, any solution that would involve dunking the problem objects in cleaning substances for prolonged lengths of time rather pointless, as they would be completely unfeasible with the lens itself and therefore ultimately pointless. Will do some research on the web for that, but wondered if anyone had suggestions or had something like that before. Have you tried wet wipes (baby wipes). A damp toothbrush also can help. It's not that bad, I spend a whole day (approx 14 hours) photographing dance with a 70-200. The worse I've had was years ago, the owner of FoCal loaned me his Sigma 120-300 2.8 S. I'd taken it out on days helicopter hunting and found it great to use with a 2x tele on my 7D2 (hand held). Robert Whetton

KEH's customer service has already replied to me after I wrote to them about the issue earlier this afternoon, and we're discussing a solution. I expect I'll get more news about it tomorrow. I've only bought one lens from them a while back but I remember it not quite matching up with the condition described. I also generally find their prices are on the high end for used gear. I mostly stick with MPB for my used gear needs now, have yet to be disappointed by them. Speaking of used gear needs... anybody in here shooting with an X-Pro3? I'm giving the thought more and more toward selling my X-T3 and replacing it with the X-Pro3. My X-Pro2 remains my favorite camera to shoot with and it honestly makes me just, not excited to shoot with the X-T3 if that makes any sense? I've been shooting with my X-Pro2 set to EVF + eye sensor only for a little bit now to see if I can get used to the lack of rear screen... it's a learning curve for sure, but I think I could cope with it. Thoughts are welcome. Oh thanks, that's a shame to find out just now... I have to admit I've been extremely unlucky with purchases lately, looking forward for that to end. That issue with KEH is just the cherry on the inverted sundae. Apricane flickr

C&C always welcomed...

Still shooting my X-PRO2 as my favourite, all I wanted from the 3 was a bigger more res EVF and more speed internally. No fussy screen choices or fancy body materials but there you go. It's proven to be a decisive camera & the sales figures are much lower than expected so don't expect an update any time soon. My worry is they will hold off on updating that line for another year at leasts they focus on delivering a more concise or focused product line spending their R&D into pushing the camera forward in spaced where they are falling behind in the market like resolution, AF, AI etc... They compromised on a single magnification and selected one which better supported longer lenses at the expense of wide lenses. This may or may not matter to you. If you don’t use the OVF, it matters not at all. And if you use 23mm or longer, it also doesn’t matter. Yeah, I had the same concern when I first saw the X-Pro3 announcement, it was one of the reasons I didn't want it initially. The flip side though is that the new OVF is apparently a lot nicer than the old camera, it's significantly larger and has clearer optics, so to me that may be worth the tradeoff since I mostly shoot at 35mm and up anyway. It is a solid point though. Two Hot Shoes wrote in post #19372397 Still shooting my X-PRO2 as my favourite, all I wanted from the 3 was a bigger more res EVF and more speed internally. Yup, I had the exact same critiques when it came out, still do in fact. I can appreciate them trying to push the bounds into something new, but the X-Pro2 was seriously the perfect formula, I wish they'd stuck with it. That said, I just find my X-T3 so uninspiring... but I love it's performance for some tasks. I'd given thought to just getting another X-Pro2 also, but the eyecup issues and dying shutter on mine have me reconsidering... I also really like the improved AF and other advancements of the newer bodies. I might put my X-T3 up for sale locally just to see if there's anyone around here that would be interested in it, I kinda doubt it given how rural my area is, but who knows ![]() .
