Serious thought going into a x100 or x100s. First venture into the mirrorless world. Want to have something that I can walk around with, blend in (ie. not be 'that guy' with the huge DSLR creeping on the street corner). but still grab some great shots with. The combination of controls/features with the x100 duo is the only one that I have found that really makes sense for my shooting thorught process. Fixed length, manual aperture, shutter speed dial with the AV option there, SILENT MODE, I love the idea of the exposure comp dial, and a VIEWFINDER!!! albeit a hybrid, but still a viewfinder. Then i figure i would custom set the Fn button to toggle the ND filter on/off and I will be rocking with almost no thought required complete control!

Here is my main question. With a used x100 being around 1/3-1/2 of a x100s, and personally never have shot much 'street'/walkaround photography or a mirrorless (all new to me, not really sure if I am going to really get into it) is it worth holding out for the x100s. I really don't want to hold out for the $900 (used) camera and not like it if the $300-400 would work for feeling out that genre of photography, plus give me room to grow before the kinks everyone reviews would start to give me a headache.

I am just stuck on that and it seems with the reviews that people give, along with the quality of there work that the issues might somewhat be per camera. I mean there are great photographers on both sides of the reviews who have great work both dlsr and mirrorless that in my eyes gives there opinion some authoritative credibility.

It is making me want to pull the trigger on a x100 more and more, just don't want a $400 regret that is all.

I have never used the X100 but people are still raving about it until now. Also with the recent updates I think a lot had improved. At least my X-E1's AF improved quite a bit.

I would say go for it, at that price you won't lose much even if you don't like it and sell it later on

So, it's been now 1 month since i have been waiting for my x100s.
I getting impatient now.

I saw a gorgeous xe1 with 35mn for the same price with the leather case and bw uv filter. That seems like a great deal.

The 35 is a little bigger than what I would really like, it's not exactly pocket size, but I hear good things about that lens.

For all of you fuji users and GAS-heads. What would u do. I am based in indonesia and everytime I call fuji indo they tell me, next week....

The X100s and the X-e1 is very different though... one have an OVF and fixed lens and the other is only E-VF and a system camera. I do have the X-E1 but I think these two compliment each other more than anything else.

As for stocks, I am not sure how much is it selling in Indonesia but if you are interested in getting one all the way from Japan just PM me. It's available here... everywhere

I already have a system, my 7d, but I feel lazy to take it with me when I travel. A little mirrorless would be great. And more conspicuous.

Right!! I guess the x100s is better for you then Lot's of people love it as long as you don't expect it to AF like your DSLR.

Just got a x100s today. Wow, IQ and ISO performance wise it seems really on par with my 5D3. I love it so far!

out of curiosity but how does the fuji sensor perform with diffraction?
are f16 and f22 usable?

It just performs just like any APS-C IMHO.
