Hi Alan.

I've always had zooms with my Canon gear. I prefer wildlife photography to be honest, but having such a young family I realise that having free time just isn't going to happen any time soon. So for now, family/landscapes are the short term future ( 3 years or so ). I'll probably get a 7D3 and Sigma 150-600 Art in a few years when I get some free time back from nappies/bottles/spoon feeding

I'd rejected the 16mm/1.4 due to it being so close to my 18/2, I did consider it initially with the 56/1.2 and my 35/1.4 in the middle. When I say family shots I meant outside as we walk a lot with the kids. I thought 23mm was better for those type of situations.

Someone had posted they felt their 16-55 could replace their primes which had me curious.

I took my X Pro1, 18/2 and 35/1.4 out yesterday in a shoulderbag, and hardly felt it was there. It's so easy to slide it round and get a body out. In the last few years I've taken my 7D, 16-35/4 and either my 70-200 or 100-400 and never even taken my rucksack off due to it being so cumbersome to get it out and maybe swap lens. So, I've lugged it around all day for nothing. My 70-200 hasn't taken a 1000 shots, neither has my 16-35...............

Just analyze your style of shooting. As you will see majority of all the photos on this thread are natural light be it indoors our outdoors. This is where I find the fuji system to excel.

I have seen very little events photography on the POTN using flash.

What is tough for me to do is shoot fuji turning off the exposure preview. Shooting mirrorless the strong points is wysiwyg and shoot away with almost perfect exposure. If you turn off exposure preview you'll need to chimp just like using a traditional mirror camera using flash.

I can't see a fuji 16-55 replacing primes if your indoors. In fact even my 27mm f/2.8 is not fast enough for indoor photos in home. Casual snaps is not a problem but for serious shooting fast zooms/no flash cannot reap high keeper rate IMO.

A 35mm equivalent is probably a nice fast prime for outdoors vs 50mm equiv. In my particular style I dumped the 35mm FL (canon) as I found it boring compared to getting killer neat perspective with a UWA lens. This is all subjective and personal..........

Just remember when you analyze photos to see if it's action or stationary/slow moving. Flash is still Fuji's extreme weak points.

BTW - I have 23mm f1.4, 35mm f1.4, 56mm f1.2 and 90mm f2. For general shots I use 23mm f1.4. It is quite nice lens. I don't shoot AF-C mode with even if AF is little slower, it doesn't matter. I never try to get all the shots, a few good quality shots better than everything for me. 35mm f1.4 has the best colors but I don't like 50mm focal length. 56mm f1.2 I use mainly for my models shots. Works nice for single kid shots also. 90mm f2 I just bought to see what it was, end up using 56mm f1.2 lot more.

Thanks for taking the time to post those shots, you're daughter is very cute. I'm very grateful and they pushed me towards the 56/1.2 My reasoning was I have 18mm for anything landscape and the 35 for shots of the kids playing together.

Yes I agree about using flash versus large aperture primes, my 17-55 was never fast enough in low light. The 56 is on its way

Xmas gathering I used my X-T10/10-24mm with Cactus V6 mk2 3x remote RF60's in the open concept living space. No HSS required in this situation but the new trigger rocks!!!

This is just a pic of my 80D with my quick DIY relocation of the stereo mic. This prevents the sounds of the AF motor as it auto focuses. I'll have to say it virtually eliminates any sounds my Canon L lenses produce while shooting video.

I'll have to say white balance is NOT consistent shooting with this setup. If I actually used this setup for a paid event I'd have to batch the entire photo session correcting white balance. However the quality of the light i was getting was absolutely fantastic. My Canon's do a much better job in auto white balance in similar remote flash setups regardless of mixed lighting.

It'd be nice to see what other fuji users do for events work. I know the X-t10 AF is definitely not up to my standards for remote flash use and autofocus accuracy. I'm still trying to figure out how to utilize the "auto focus assist light" on my new Cactus trigger. My 10-24mm is probably one reason why I missed some photos. For dslr UWA I have 100% full confidence in AF accuracy in low light situations.

However for this casual fun use I'll let the blurry misfocused shots slide for today's experiment.

I'd have to say I found the opposite to be true for me: I find AWB is much more accurate with Fuji than it ever was with either [any of] my 5D3 or my 70D [almost a great camera and if the AF is good on the 80D Canon will have a winner there for sure].

Last Friday's event, I was shooting a red carpet and got away with just one light. I hung an AD600 with a 60cm beauty dish [Socked] off the end of an grip armed c-stand. Every shot was spot on with the X-PRO2, even grabbed a few seconds of walking towards the camera, as in down the red carpet, every shot in focus at 8 fps with the XF 16-55 f/2.8 attached. Even the flash kept up fine. Used the X-T1 with the 56/1.2 on it for general shots no flash needed as I could push the ISO up on those.

I do miss that Canon AF assist 'grid' on their flashes at times, it just worked so good without blinding your subject I have the Fuji AF assist off permanently. But the low light AF is good enough most of the time for me and I've [re]learnt how to manual focus quickly - so easy now a days.

Delivered the SOOC JPEGs, they look so good, that night to the client and they were over the moon happy with the results.

I have been reading on this for last two days. No definite answer from anyone. Elv thinks it should work if I put R2 Tx on top of Cactus V6II and then try to trigger my XPLOR600.

Regarding WB, I am with Alan, I get better WB with Canon but I always use fixed deg K. WB was my main reason of switching from Fuji jpegs to RAW. I couldn't get consistent WB in jpegs and it was harder for me to fix in post. With RAW it is easier. Maybe I need to learn how to fix WB in post tricks.

BTW - You should try the extension head with that AD600. I am loving it, may even order the 1200ws head one of these days.
