It's a Sony a6500 with an adapted Sigma 150-600mm. My friend is much more into wild life and nature shooting than I am ;)

The final one, i think I am going to use it, probably. @f/1.2 is really difficult to do when you not on the camera as it were.

Two Hot shoes,

The only suggestion I would say is to uplift the darkness in your eyes Iris to show the colours. I'd have preference of having a catch light but in this case you can slightly uplift the shadows below the eyes and brighten up the Iris in post.

One light set up. One 120cm octa powered by an AD600BM @ 1/8 so quite bright and the octa was about one meter in front of me angled to ~30˚ a white reflector on my lap holding it to tilt it up. 6 Stop ND filter, a firecrest by Formatt-Hitech, to lower the balance of light in the room so the ambient is black as no HSS yet.

Thanks for your comments Alan, always welcome.
I'm happy with the look, I shot it and edited it the way I wanted it to turn out. I dislike eyes that are, to me, over bright in headshots. My eyes are a grey blue so with a reflector in there you'd get a lot of white anyway. Personally I think there is plenty going on in the eyes as it is but 10 different photographers 10 different looks & all that. This is me, my name is Kim.

anyone have the Undfind bag? BHPhoto has the 10" one on sale for $40 in various designs including leather.

They have a 13" one, but it's still $130. Not sure if the 10" would be big enough... but then again, if you are getting a small bag, it's because you don't want to carry it all.

One of my favourite baristas Jack who owns Brewery coffee co. This was a snap between setups during a planned shoot as I wanted to try out the Sigma 50 Art on the X-T1. He is making me an espresso.

I can't decide if I like this shot or not... one moment I do, the next it's "meh". I've been trying to play around with using negative space and I really liked the color in the pond.

Looks a funny killer combo, big gun + small mirrorless. Almost the same level than nikon1 + 300-800 :D

Looks fine to me, you are the artist so it's your call.

Have you tried playing around with photo shop to place the bird in other parts of the frame?

I would move the strobe down to see more light in the eyes, unless the intent was to darken the eyes.

Precisely what I was doing, didn't want bright eyes at all, did want a nice even balance of light in the face & the eyes are bright enough for me with lots of colour. That Hurley fella has a lot to answer for...

My reply from Facebook earlier today below

Thanks for you comments xxxxxxx, if you look in the eyes you will see a reflector, the distance is kept so as not to remove the jawline too much, there would be more shadow on the neck with out one further dissolving the chin. Also the structure of the face would change by lighting the eyes that way as you move the shadows about the face, & anyway I wanted them a little dark and in balance with the lighting. I'd probably lower the light a little and up the angle a little to add light into the eyes or play about with the HSL a little to add brightness, if I wanted that kind of headshot.

I haven't but it's an interesting idea.

Went out to the fog yesterday morning. It was thick but I love it and with a Fuji in my hand nothing can go wrong when it comes to black and white photos.
Here are my favorites from that trip.
