Exceptionally straight shot for JoeCo [the make some audio gear] as per their brief, of one of their users with one of his U19 units. Tricky to not get any unwanted reflections in the metal or glass and have the LEDs on the panel shine through. Least in the studio you can take a few minutes to line it all up before you have to shoot. 1/4 of a second for the LEDs to show, flash shutter to freeze subject.

So you used 1/4 shutter speed?? That's serious "dragging shutter!!!!"

I know exactly what your talking about when it comes to "tricky reflections". I shot a corporate photo with a multi million dollar test cell behind the executive. It was a nightmare to prevent reflection.

In your photo I can barely even see any catchlights in the guy's eyes. This photo almost looks like it was shot available light. Good job on anti reflection.

Thanks, the 1/4 was needed to get the flashing LEDs active in the shot. I then needed a fast enough flash time to act as a shutter and the room dark enough too. Technical enough a shot in the end as it turned out.
If you look closely you can see highlights on the inputs of the Focusrite Octopre LE but that's all good to my eye.

The amount of times I've shot someone with glasses, usually in group, and got them into position only to have them move just enough to have the reflections back when I go to click to shutter, maddening but always patient towards them. Least big shiny stuff doesn't move so once you set you can forget and concentrate on other things. Andy was a champ at not moving I should point out as well as an awesome audio engineer.

A good read by Jeff Carter about shooting sports with Fuji, he explained his approach as well as his settings.

Just home from shooting a family, they were really nice and fun to shoot with. I love working with people like that always so much better emotions in the shots, her 8 year old took a little warming up so put down the camera and played/joked about until he was happy with me being there. Lots of smilies followed. Traveled out with the 16/1.4, 23/1.4 & 56/1.2 with the X-PRO2 as camera. No flash needed as the light was great & we found lots of pockets of shade to play about with. So nice to have a small camera on the shoulder and three lenses in a small bag [Ona Bowery - expensive but nice].
Off now to meet a bride to be to see if we can work... busy Saturday, bring on the coffee.

I've drooled over those Ona bags, but can't bring myself to spend $400 on one. I've eyeballed the Brixton.

Glad to hear you have a busy weekend. I've been asked on several occasions for portaits, a few times if I was available for weddings, etc. I haven't gotten over my fear of totally fu***** up something to take on a paid job. Luckily I can still call this a hobby and I have a day job to pay bills...and slowly fund this expensive habit. :D

Cheers, those bags are really nice and look good when meeting clients and out on shoots. I often have a couple of lenses, flashes and batteries/cards etc in it & matches my Holdfast Moneymaker well. Yes being busy is a very good thing when you work for your self.

I like Think Tank bags, very sturdy and give you loads of dividers, my airport security fits soooo much stuff. But those Ona bags in leather are what suits me for now, worth the investment.

Met Bride to be today we really got on well, she liked my style only turns out I'm in France on the day of their wedding. Man I hate when that happens, would have been a good one to shoot, nice couple & she was bummed I was not free - kinda a nice feeling but I'd rather have been free. Recommended two other photographers I've worked with in the past so hopefully she gets the shots she wanted. Better make the most of the France trip now.

I "think" LOL every Thinktank bag has a lot of engineering and thought in design. They are a tad $$$ but always well worth it in my opinion.

Eh, 6 years later and I'm still happy with my $40 SwissGear Zinc bag. It has the added bonus of repping my Swiss heritige with the flag on it too  ;)

Got lucky with a pelican case 1510 for $85 USD earlier this week. I plan to customize it with new dividers and the laptop sleeve insert.

A member posted a link to overstock.com in the market watch section. My G.A.S kicked in and I couldn't resist. It's funny because my friend was just showing me his pelican setup last week.
