I did a full reset of the camera and that seems to have taken care of the issue for the moment. Nice that this did not require a repair but I still wonder why the viewfinder froze. Hope it does not happen again.

I also picked up a kit on FM for cheap with a XP1, leather case, grip, flash, 18-55, 55-200, 35, and 60. I basically got it so I could compare the XP1 to my XE1 and because I wanted the 55-200. I'll sell the rest. The 55-200 is amazing. IS works very well. It's pretty darn sharp in low light at my desk at MFD! Yeap I noticed the older lenses like 14mm and 35mm are noisy. The new lenses are pretty silent and yes that 55-200mm is pretty amazing
