THIS IS A LOW QUALITY PREVIEW. Please log in to see the good quality stuff.

Finally put my X-T1 up for sale, will miss it until the new camera arrives. As much as I like the X-PRO2 there are a few reasons why I'm opting for the X-T2 or the 2S(?) if that gets released soon. Not holding out on that one. Reasons for me are mostly the larger EVF and the access to shoot video in 4K both internally and to an external monitor. Can't make a RED work out for me yet :p

Also finally caved in and ordered the 10-24 F/4 as I have a load of architecture to shoot next month, thankfully, so will probably also sell the Sammy 8 fish and the 12mm. And probably swap out the 10-24 for the 8-16 next summer.

Out of the X-T2 or X-PRO2 what do you like and why?

Kim,

I've mentioned it before but the battery booster is the only reason why I will never buy the Xpro2. I have so much more confidence that I will never run out of juice while shooting with the XT2 with battery pack. Also the battery booster is absolutely incredible for a dual battery charger. I know some have no concern with a single battery but even with OE batteries I find that I cannot get away with shooting when I know the battery is getting low. IMO the battery indicator is not reliable enough.

I think a large amount of people can tolerate a "normal" camera configuration if they have come from Canon or Nikon etc. I never cared for the retro rangefinder location of the viewfinder but again purely personal preference.

"IF" the X-t2s ever becomes reality it's a nice to have. I'd rather personally buy the X-t2 and wait for the X-T3 when it comes standard with ibis (if it every happens).

The 10-24mm is my favourite UWA uses with my fuji. However f/4 is still too slow for alot of things I'd like to shoot. The newer Fuji UWA slated for 2018 is less versatile but faster glass. If fuji made the 10-24mm at f/2.8 constant that would have been perfect for me.

Guys, stop, stop! I'm waffling between the X-Pro2 and X-T2 right now with a strong lean toward the Pro2. Don't kill my buzz. ;-)a

LMAO!!! :-P

You must REALLY like the rangefinder to get the XPro2. For me it just doesn't compete for the above mentioned reasons.

Is there an operational speed difference between the xt2 and xpro2 in terms of af ? Just curious

Good question. Not that I know of... and in a few weeks there might be... although I don't think it will matter because the firmware update is supposed to make the AF even faster.

Get the X-Pro2 - Receiving one myself tomorrow ( after jettisoning the X-t2 a few months ago ). I have plenty of batteries and ... it takes what ? 10 seconds to change one ...

for a casual day out where the camera comes along .. then I agree about the battery part not being an issue..this is where I usually take off the grip and just put an extra battery in my pocket..

yet I also think its not BIG deal to have to change batteries during a photo session/event or what ever, be aware and time it properly , odds are an important moment will never be missed..

how ever I do like that with the grip , I don't even think about power levels.. (but I don't shoot large events where at the end of the night I might have a couple of thousand images..)
occasionally when I do look down to see how i'm doing in that dept i'm always pleasantly surprised at how well i'm doing ..

photo session with most photos taken was about 500 pics .. (4 models ) and at the end of the day I had only 1 out of 3 batteries depleted completely the two appeared to be both at 4 bars..

Three day fashion photo shoot, the X-T2 with the grip on, 12 batteries used a day. That'll be boost mode left on then. Wasn't my shoot.

Operational speed between the two is not there until you boost-mode up the X-T2, then you get the jump as it uses all three batteries at once[Ish].

Things I love about the X-PRO2: The rear screen, such a nice sharp and colourful thing. The OVF - not often I use it but it is nice at times, turn the rear screen off too. The buttons on the right of the screen, playback is a big one there, I can tap play to preview the shot without taking my eye away from the camera and breaking the flow if needed. It's a rangefinderish camera = looks cool, feels cool.

Things I dislike about the X-T2: see above but will forgive for the EVF, especially in manual mode...

The only reasons he listed were battery life (not solved with the X-T2 unless you use the booster) and the rangefinder (which many prefer).

I was convinced I wanted the X-T2 prior to it's release. I bought an X-Pro2 as a holding spot until the price came down on the X-T2 and fell in love with the hybrid finder. I would buy an X-Pro2 over an X-T2 even if it was $500 more expensive, that's how much the VF matters to me. Obviously everyone's mileage will vary, but I love the viewfinder on the X-Pro2/X100T/F.

Nope. The firmware coming in the winter is going to make both cameras even better too.

I actually prefer manual focusing on my X-Pro2 over my X-T1. Yes, the EVF is nice on the X-T1/T2, but the ERF of the X-Pro2 makes manual focusing extremely accurate and fast. The only exception being lenses longer than 58mm or shorter than 18mm.

You get the dual display in the X-T also if you want it, I just like the eye relief of the bigger screen especially at night.

When my workflow reaches a certain level I will add a second body. I might grab an X-pro2 or X100f.
