Hey all,

Any potential good options for 14~15mm equivalent, so 8~9mm non-fish eye, ultrawides for Fuji yet?

Very best,

Fujinon 8-16mm f/2.8 is slated to come out this 2016. The range to be honest SUCKS and I truly wished for a 10-24mm f/2.8 version!!!!

It will be a heavy pig and $$$$$$. I still may just get it and tolerate the 24mm (fov) long end but I sure wish it was a 36mm (fov).

I figure if I expand on Fuji in the future, the 10-24 would be a natural replacement to my 17-40 which I use a ton. I was close to adding a 14~15mm lens to my FF setup. But, I may wait and see how things go for a while. Was just wondering if there were non-fisheye 8mm lenses for APS-C yet. Everything seems to be fisheye. Don't need F2.8 or anything, this would live at F5.6~F16 probably a lot for its purposes.

An 8~16 would be great, but don't need F2.8, so would hope for a F4~F5.6 or something version (for cost & weight/size). May not see that though.

Very best,

I don't need 2.8 on the UWA either but it looks like that is all they want to offer with WR.

I need it as I love using UWA for my workflow in events. However I'll have to see how it performs in low light autofocus. I also would like the wider 8mm range.

Can anyone give me some user-end-experience of the EVF of newer model bodies, like the XPRO1 & XPRO2, XT10 & XT20, X-E2S compared to what I'm experiencing in the X100S?

I really prefer the OVF for viewing. I use the EVF for very specific moments where I need critical AF point placement and I'm using shallow depth of field. But, the EVF is atrocious. It's fine to look at, but it's so laggy it's an embarassment as far as I'm concerned for a modern piece of tech, with such a small resolution, to be so laggy compared to cameras I have that are the same time period without the lag on much larger LCD's. Granted, I didn't get the X100S for its EVF, I got it for the OVF, leaf shutter and simplicity and silence. But, I am opening my mind to the future of adding a 2nd body eventually along with Fuji lenses, and I'm consdering my options. But, they all basically use EVF and for F1.2 glass I know I will want the accuracy of placement with an EVF. So I'm curious how good EVF's are in the later cameras with dedicated EVF in terms of laggy response and all that.

I'm curious how everyone has managed to go from optical view finders of various kinds, to EVF's in general, with laggy response.

Thank goodness you never see the word "buffering," lest I throw it into a wall in rage. I kid.

++++++++++

Also, so far, using Silky, converting a RAW to TIFF takes an extraordinary amount of time for me even on a quadcore CPU. Maybe I'm spoiled by my old 12MP RAW files and 10MP RAW files I'm used to. But these 16MP RAF's take a significant amount of time to convert to TIFF. But I'm new to Silky, so I'm not sure if I've set something or missed something.

Very best,

The rebates are so anemic this time around that they didn't move me.

Question: On my X-Pro2 the diopter needs to be changed completely when going from EVF to Viewfinder. Is this normal?

Not on my XP-1

Interesting thanks, I didn't notice the model number difference of the XT2 and the XT20, totally different cameras.

I'm overall just looking at potential good used Fujis in the future that have good EVF's. They would be mostly for portrait with some minor landscape mixed in. Nothing more. Everything else I do is handled with a different tool more suited to the task. But I am considering allowing my 5Dc to die and eventually be replaced with a Fuji. One thing I'm tiring of is the large bulky heavy cameras & glass that I use. And I mostly prefer wider angles. So it just seems like they have the system & glass that I'm interested in (Fuji that is), without the silly costs of Sony right now. But, I think my main concern is with the EVF's quality and latency. If and when I add a 2nd Fuji to my kit, that is full time EVF, it basically has to be as lag free as possible. I don't mind a little lag when swinging the camera massive angles, as it will never be used for that, but mostly just a decently fluid experience for still photography with minor movement (nothing faster than general walking; normal activity, etc). My X100S is so laggy when I use the EVF that it makes me feel like I'm looking at some tech that is not from 2013 or later. I knew that would be the case, but it just makes me really concerned for my next body in the future should I continue this pathway. For very shallow depth of field and portrait stuff in general, I will be much more concerned with EVF and latency.

Overall, if things go this way, I'm considering a body of some kind with really good EVF performance, and then considering trading out my 17-40L, 135L and 35F2IS with a Fuji equivalent of 10-24, 56 F1.2 and leave it at that, but maybe a 23 F1.4 (maybe). I don't really care for much else at this time. So full depth of field with the 10-24, and really shallow at F1.2. So I will want an EVF that can actually perform well without seeming like a latency mess, especially on a subject that is even slightly moving.

Very best,

In Europe they are due to end 15 Jan 2018. Thinking of adding the 23/1.4 now, then, either the 14/2.8 or the 8-16 when it lands.

The 23/56 combo should see me good for all family outings, then, I'm hoping the XT-3 will have something for me to pounce on when it lands.
