So currently I have the X-Pro2, XT-1, 23mm, 35mm, 56mm, 90mm, and 50-140mm.
I had put my 90mm up for sale, and have a potential buyer. I figured when I sold it, I might put the funds towards an XT2, but currently, my XT1 sits on a shelf. It’s a backup for my xpro2. My question is, do I really need an XT2? I know the 50-140 and the 56 and 90 overlap, but different beasts in my opinion. I guess I felt a little remorse for getting the 50-140, so I was thinking I need to get rid of something.... but I’m greedy haha.
Didn't you just answer your own question?
I lusted for an X-T2 before they came out, was certain I'd end up with one eventually. I bought my X-Pro2 sort of on a whim as a compromise since I knew the X-T2 was going to be hard to get for a while after launch and I found a stellar deal on my X-Pro2. So happy it worked out that way, I love my X-Pro2. I bought an X-T1 as a backup for my X-Pro2 and feared I'd find I prefered it's ergonomics and larger EVF... I don't. Like yours, my X-T1 spends most of it's life on a shelf, I really just use it when I want something a bit smaller/lighter with changeable lenses or as a backup.
To me the difference in image quality between X-TransII and X-TransIII isn't worth getting excited over, both are excellent. Sometimes I even prefer the look of my X-TransII files. So really it comes down to ergonomics, burst rate, and video. If you prefer the ergonomics of the X-T1, but only use the X-Pro2 because you prefer it's IQ, need the faster burst rate, or you want the additional video options (which last I heard are coming to the X-Pro2 soon anyway, something I'm super excited for) then buy an X-T2... otherwise, stick with what you've got

You always need a back up... and the X-t2 is better than the X-t1.
There's always going to be a "better" camera. How much better is the question. If it's spending it's life on a shelf as it is I'd call that a huge waste of money just to upgrade for the sake of your shelf ornament being "better".

Well yes, the XT2 is better than the XT1, but my issue is that the XT1 doesn’t see any action as it is, and would it even be worth getting the XT2 if it would suffer the same fate. I’m not going to go buy the latest and greatest gear because it’s “better”. My Canon 5D Mark II served me very well despite the Mark III and Mark IV models that surpassed it. It didn’t make my 5D Mark II take worse photos.
This. And again... sounds like you've answered your own question
My brother and his wife on their wedding day. I was in the wedding and thus don't have many shots from the ceremony (my girlfriend did take a few with my camera), but this was right after.
One was processed in camera and one was done in LR
