my X100s arrived today (I wasn't home to sign for it yesterday):

IMAGE: http://i.imgur.com/YsAn9gn.jpg

so far so good but I will say the AF does NOT feel as quick as an OMD/EPM2. It's much better and the macro/nonmacro distance is MUCH improved, but it's certainly got room for improvement IMHO. Maybe firmware updates will bring that like it did with the X100? It seems to get it right pretty much 99% of the time when you've got a green box, but there are times with a subject about 2~3' in low light (1/125th, f/2, 6400) that it basically hunts a bit or will red box the AF routine so you have to press the shutter again.

That said, manual works perfectly now. It moves with the ring as you'd expect, even in low light and the peaking is nice. They need to give more options (red) and the heavier setting needs to be the light setting and heavy needs to be VERY heavy but as is it works pretty well. Split screen works very well with some subjects (anything with a straight line) but terribly with others... at least for me.

Question for anyone who has tried the x100s, does the split image work in the viewfinder or just the LCD? How good is manual focusing with the viewfinder? I would imagine without a split image in the viewfinder its basically useless.

Question for x10/x20 users, when you zoom, how does that work with the viewfinder? Does the viewfinder also zoom in to match the FOV? Also, hows manual focusing with the viewfinder? Basically useless?

great informative review Ben. I'm still debating between this and the x-pro1. wondering if I really need the x-pro1 with the lenses.

Ben,

Thank you for taking the time to upload that video!

The low / high key setting sounds like it would be useful to me. Can these settings be customized at all?

Thanks!

The split image does work with the EVF. It zooms in to a portion of the picture then applies the split effect. Manual focusing is great with any of the focusing aids in the EVF.

Here is a view of the split focusing. Sorry for for the crap pic, hard to get a clean shot with a camera phone.
