The GFX100 looks like a killer camera for anyone shooting portraits,
weddings or anything in that vein, which is a huge chunk of the professional photography industry. The two GFX50 models gave the full frame tree a shake but this should really cause a major wobble in the market. Fuji have been ballsy in this venture into medium format but this camera could be where they see their real pay off, especially because they have a major leg up on the competition who have been busy clubbing each other with full frame.
I'm not the market for that camera. I'm not a working pro and I don't have the money for that kind of treat, but this camera could, and should, be revolutionary in the professional world - especially with what looks like an increasingly small, professional market for camera sales now that casual photography moves steadily towards mobile devices,
I can't see why one wouldn't want 100mp medium format with IBIS and eye-AF with tracking. I can't see how any wedding photographer would sensibly buy a 100mp MF camera. It's simply too much data for too many use cases. I do see the value in portraits and other low volume use cases (though I personally question the need for 100mp even in those). But when your task is to document an event by shooting hundreds or thousands of photos, even the 40-50mp range is a lot to handle. IBIS doesn't necessarily carry a lot of value when you're documenting people in events (weddings or otherwise), because you often need the shutter speeds that will not blur motion. Same with eye-AF - you're taking pictures of people in an environment, and not headshots.
Granted, I'm not excited about the GFX100. But I do appreciate that it's a niche offering towards a niche group of users, which I'm pretty does not include many wedding/event photographers. What I truly applaud Fuji for, though, is how they're changing the MF market in general. They're basically making MF cheaper AND better from most users' standpoint.
I'm pretty sure one day I will buy a GFX. But I'd hope for fewer megapixels, and not more. The prices also still need to come down for me to be able to justify the spend.
