Yes it was, also got to meet Karl Lagerfeld - super nice guy - I was a little star struck to be honest but he was cool and we chatted for a bit. Mark Ronson was the DJ on the boat that night. The next night we were in a bar and this guy and his girlfriend sit on the table next to us, naturally a conversation starts up. Turns out it was Vincent Perez. A wild few days it was.

Has anyone noticed that the lens name of your Fuji lenses in Capture One has changed since 12.0? After I updated I found my lens name adds "FujiFillm Fujinon" to the lens name on images I imported after updating, or reloading metadata on previous images.

Today I shot a few 320mp images in the studio for a client and there goes my weekend…
This day last year I shot this one (13 or so times smaller) in the local coffee shop. I prefer having coffee..

The portrait work he’s been doing.

Street photography the x100f and XT3 is already a nice set of tools.

If you want that extra bit of bang out of a portrait you might as well use a medium format camera. I mean I’d even pit my old X-E2 against your Fony, oops I mean Sony, A7 in a portrait session any day of the week.

Much better spend would be on all the other crap like stands, lights, modifiers, finding great locations, assistants, talent, education, taking time to develop your style by shooting loads of thought out sessions etc… if you already have a camera and a lens or two you have enough to move forward with.

Hey Kim.....hahahaha :) X-e2...seriously :p

"Fony" full frame is a great system as it's developing and evolving more and more.

I've owned the 16MP X-E2 and it does produce nice images. 16MP is quite limited as it's really not a sweet spot this day in age in resolution.

I'd say growing lens line of Sony would make my little A7's quite a decent portrait body with 24MP sweet spot. If I want more resolution for portraits/landscape I can just go to my local shop and buy the A7Rmk3 for a nice 42MP. Sigma is going wild on creating lenses for the FF world. From heavy pig Sigma ART 85 f/1.4 to 105 ART 1.4, 135 f/1.8 ART, Adapting the monster Canon 200 f/2IS to Sony's Gmaster glass. I'd say Sony's alternatives is extremely potent for portraits. New excitement of the Sony 600 f/4 and 200-600 G zoom as it's allowing some foundation for sports/wildlife photographers.

In good light even micro 4/3 is a capable system. However the files do not have as much pushing/pulling dynamic range. Sony's sensor in your Fuji is doin' all right for making Fuji a good performing sony sensor system :) Fuji needs faster primes and zooms if they truly want to make their aps-c equivalent to 35mm in the dof category. That will not happen......

Fuji is an interesting company. Would be nice to see a Fuji 16mm f/1.0, 35 f/1.0, 56 f/1.0 mk2, 90 mm f/1.0 since many fuji shooters will not buy a GFX100. This is where Canon, Nikon and Sony FF mirrorless have some benefits of more support in faster glass than fuji. Mind you Nikon and Canon mirrorless FF are still taking baby steps in evolution.

When dpreview made a recent video on the Fuji 200 mm f/2 it was a nice review. Comments regarding niche lens, expensive price is within a very very small percentage of Fuji shooters. Of course the full frame crowd commented on "if you going to lug that much weight it's not different in using FF glass on a full frame. I guess the beauty is that Fuji has something for "someone" that needs 300mm equiv f/3 FF equiv for a crop sensor. My friend that shoots wildlife enjoyed using a X-t3 with 200 f/2 with extender as Fuji lent it for him to "test".

Due to the new trend of cheap flashes like godox, many benefit with experimentation of using cheap lights. Lighting gear is much cheaper and more advanced compared to the crap pocket wizard flex units (garbage) I bought into many many years ago and my previous Elinchrom RX400/600 showed it's age as non TTL/HSS.

Since the GFX50 is cheaper now I would hope many Fuji lovers will buy it for portrait/slow moving subjects. I'm doubtful anyone participating in the fuji threads on POTN will buy into the GFX100. I can see in Canada that Fuji is aggressively hoping to get more MF GFX shooters. They are really diggin' deep in the discounts on their lenses and bodies right now. When the GFX100 hits the same price point as the GFX50 this will be a different topic. The current price point of gear this is a good debate. For my case I'd buy a cheap $3100CDN A7Rmk3 and have the versatility of fast glass for sports and portraits. The GFX50 is extremely niche and although it's sensor is larger than FF it's still a mini Medium format.

I do not see the need for MF for now. I want to have more versatility and photography is a past time now. I'm fortunate as my current line of work, shooting for hire is zero priority and I'm no longer seeking time consuming additional photography work :) It's nice to pick and choose now as a semi-pro or hobbyist.

I'm having a hoot with my gear I currently own :)

My friend sent me some pics the other day he had taken of his BRZ with his phone to ask which one's I thought he should use for his social media... sadly he doesn't know anything about photography and the pics reflected this

I offered to take some shots after work, thankfully I had my X-T1 and 7artisans 35/1.2 in my work bag. We went downtown by the water, this was my favorite of the 10 minutes we took SOOC.

30 second exposure (got to test my new tripod out), and used his phone to light paint the car. I'll fix the color cast it caused when I get around to processing it (I've got like, 3 cards to go through right now... been lazy  )

"extra bit of bang out of a portrait you might as well use a medium format camera"...........I kept on reading :-P

Majority of Fuji crop users's would viciously defend 1.5 crop aps-c and mock saying there is no need of 35mm larger form factor FF, yet preach the existence of a large body/form factor GFX50 or GFX100 for $10,000 USD dollars (most here will never buy or cannot justify). The ergonomics of the GFX50R is atrocious! An extremely high percentage of the Fuji $$ market does not need 50MP or even 100MP. It's the professionals that shoot billboards and fashion that will appreciate the cheaper GFX solution.

Osa, you better get more bang and run out and buy a GFX :) I like the IQ but the more affordable GFX50 is just not for me. GFX100 is drool factor but I have to pay for future university tuition for my children :)

Before running out for a GFX, just play around with a 105mm f/1.4 pig sized Sigma lens with FF. OMG I tested one for giggles and it's a crazy lens but I've heard it prone to flare. We all have fun using whatever we have in our hands.

So many ways to skin a cat!

Yea, me and my lowly old X-E2 and a portrait session anytime you fancy it Alan, I'll even sweeten the deal and do it with the 18/2....

Billboards don't need a high megapixel camera. Other stuff a high count can be very important though, stuff people get up close to in shops & hotels etc... The high quality 100Mp sensor makes life a lot easier in that regard & I'm looking forward to seeing what Fuji have with the new GFX for that, 1/5 of the price of the Phase all be it a smaller sensor, still not as small as the little 135mm one though

You think [GFX 50r's] $4k is a high price for a medium format camera, lol indeed. Try $50k. Fuji have done something great, they have made MF accessible. I'm sure plenty of people will run out to buy the latest fast lens from whoever, and that's great an all, but those lenses will do little to make your photography 'more'. Taking your head out of the sand about gear might though. A photographer I shot with a few months ago was using that 105/1.4, he sold it recently. He's shooting more Fuji now too :)

The distraction of gear can really stand in the way of getting where you need to go.
You'll get it one day
