Jeff Carter posted about his experience shooting LeMans with an A9 and an X-T3 both with their big primes. Interesting read from a working sports pro photographer

But, but, but, Fuji is too slow when it comes to AF Kim!

My personal experience has been that these tools are fun and you can spend a lot of time playing with them and, perhaps, such play can be productive as a self-development tool. Or perhaps a better way to waste time :).

But when it comes to what actually helps me get an image I want, I have always ended up using basic tools in Photoshop and Capture One.

The one tool I have found useful is TKActions, which makes it quick and easy to generate Luminosity Masks (and variants based on color, saturation, etc). And the current version (7) has been a step up as a tool for helping with color grading. It is also more broadly useful.

Thanks! I will give those a try.

80mil with the natural light as my key and a speed light in an umbrella for a little fill.

Wandered down to the beach yesterday. X-Pro1 still makes an excellent wandering camera. 35mm f/2 has been a great buy for me. I might try to get some of my other lenses out of the bag this week, though.

Oh I know, but I think we all realise where slow is the problem at times. But look at least now you can clearly see why you need a full frame camera, oh wait no no that’s not it. Ha-ha, aaaa so good.

Thanks very much. We are having a very dull summer here, I picked the wrong year to stay in Ireland. Ho hum, hopefully we get a few good weeks soon.

Was browsing through my old X-E1 pics today and found this. Took this when I was in Germany which is such a beautiful country. Will definitely come back there someday, hopefully soon!

Is this a Fujifilm X photographer discussing how fuji gear is a stellar performer ? :-P:-P

Fuji has the 100-400 and the unaffordable "to most" 200 f/2 with optional tele converter. I can see how this comparison is going against a limited sony lens lineup. However the New extremely affordable Sony 200-600 and 600 prime is simply going to grow from there. Yes Sony is darn expensive but so is most new FF mirrorless lenses.

If I was in that line of work for my livelihood I'd probably buy Fuji as well. It's cheaper and it gets the job done. You can almost buy 3 x Fuji Xt3 to one Sony A9. The Sony 400 f/2.8 stabilized lens is $11998 USD vs the much much cheaper $5799 USD sticker price. If my paycheck depended on a long prime lens the Fuji 200mm is quite cheap to be honest regarding business asset or write offs.

Camera's are just tools.

I'm familiar with the perspective I get from an 85mm prime on FF or 56mm on aps-c Fuji. I've selected the Sigma 105mm f/1.4 for my little sony camera as it produces a different less distorted perspective due to compression. This is something fuji cannot offer me in a beautiful working distance of camera/subject and f/1.4 shallow dof. The 105mm is a pig but I can also buy an Sony 85 f/1.8 if I wanted a light weight lens that is cheaper than my Fuji 56mm. 50 f/2 will never make it into my bag as I'd rather go for the fastest glass for primes with an option to stop down aperture.

I never liked the fuji 90mm range or 135mm f/1.8 on full frame due to working distance with people. I decided on the Sigma 105mm f/1.4 Bokeh Master as I demand a certain amount of compression and working distance. I'll definitely be buying the sony 85 f/1.8 and possibly the GMaster 85mm too as it's a very comfortable working range.

IF Fuji made a 70mm f/1.0 this would be an equivalent to my Bokeh Master. I'd buy a fuji 70mm f/1.0 and XT3 :) I think the Nikon 105mm version is better but I need Sony E mount. The choice of tools is nothing due to fiercely defending a sensor size as I'm being brand agnostic. What a system offers me is the key in landing in my gear bag.

In some discussion "Not a big difference" is very subjective. This is sometimes the determining factor of getting closer to ideal or just "good enough". There is such a variance in how people rate IQ. This is the photographer's choice and the wallet is also a determining factor.

Relevant to nothing here, sometimes this thread reminds me of the movie "Rain Man".
