Just joined the Fuji club, just picked up a X-E2 last night. Haven't had much chance to play with it yet but I am very impressed with the Jpeg image quality that I am seeing from the few shots I have gotten to take. Need to get LR5 so that I can start shooting RAW unless anyone has a work around that works with LR4.

Depending on what you like to shoot, you may want to consider other options for RAW converters like Capture 1 Pro, Photo Ninja, or Irident.

Before really reading into it, what is everyone's gripe with LR and the way it handles the Fuji raw files?

It can cause a watercolor effect on contrasty areas, but I have yet to have it be a real problem for me, only seen it in maybe 2 shots. The only other problem I have with LR4 is that there are no color presets for Fuji cameras, you're stuck using "Adobe Standard", which I've never been a huge fan of, LR5 fixes this though.

Other than that, idk why people don't like LR, it works fine for me.

Good to know - I'm having zero issues with it and I'm using LR5 - I typically render my photos so far away from any of the standard or adobe presets as is. To be honest, I went years editing photos and never knowing about the color presets. I always used the camera/lens profiles but that's about it.

I alter my vibrance and saturation, but for most shots I don't play with the individual color channels as it takes too much time. I usually go with "Camera Faithful" or "Camera Standard", being stuck on the "Adobe Standard" kinda stinks, but I don't find it to be enough of an annoyance to upgrade just yet.

Heres another two shots taken at the same time as the one above. The first is the 23mm again and the second is the 56mm. Both wide open

Huh didn't know people were having any issues with LR for their Fuji's. I'd rather not have to purchase/learn a new software as I am very happy with LR for my RAW conversions with my canon cameras, but if its a big problem I guess I will have to look elsewhere.

Im using LR with Fuji RAWS. The only thing I don't like is the way they sharpen on lightroom. Apart from that its great

What problems does LR's sharpening cause? Just curious so that I can start to plan my post production workflow, as I will most likely be sticking with lightroom since it works so well with my other cameras.

I use mainly lightroom for PP. I hardly ever touch photoshop unless absolutely necessary. I'm curious as to any "issues" with Fuji as well.

The straight out of camera jpegs are very sharp on the X-T1 but I find that no matter what I do in lightroom I cant get the RAWs to look as sharp without introducing the "painted look" (not sure how best to describe that). So I end up doing minimal sharpening in lightroom followed by sharpening in photoshop.

This may not be an issue to others but I just cant seem to get a good setting for sharpening

Ah ok I think I get what you are saying. Does this seem to be an issue with the default setting for lightroom sharpening? I hardly ever find myself going for the detail panel in LR unless I really feel that a certain image needs it.

I find this happens if you are too aggressive with the sharpening sliders, however if you are not aggressive its soft compared to the jpeg. Its a bit frustrating but the images sharpen up ok in photoshop. I usually just do a simple unsharp mask at 100% and between 0.7 and 1.3 radius

PS - I use LR5 to process all my Fuji RAWs. Just mentioned it b/c others find it an issue. I don't. :) But wanted to be fair and give warning.
