The straight out of camera jpegs are very sharp on the X-T1 but I find that no matter what I do in lightroom I cant get the RAWs to look as sharp without introducing the "painted look" (not sure how best to describe that). So I end up doing minimal sharpening in lightroom followed by sharpening in photoshop.

This may not be an issue to others but I just cant seem to get a good setting for sharpening

I have not noticed this, but I am very wet behind the ears in terms of Fuji files. Out of curiosity, in LR, what do you typically set the sharpening slider too? I am a big fan of masking the sharpening and usually only introduce at a maximum of 50 on the slider. When I go 1:1 in Lr I dont usually get that painted look. have you used Nik Software's sharpener by chance?

Tried it on both my X-T1 and X-Pro1 several times, but got the following error message every time: "turn camera off and turn on again"

Based on my research, this suggests there may be a mechanical defect with the focus mechanism.

New one is coming in 2 days. I GUESS I'll live. =P

With the Fuji camera s not having an anti-aliasing filter, are the images noticeably sharper?

Has anyone noticed any negative effects from not having the filter?

Definitely sharper than any crop camera I've used before, about the same as my 6D using the same lenses.

I find this happens if you are too aggressive with the sharpening sliders, however if you are not aggressive its soft compared to the jpeg. Its a bit frustrating but the images sharpen up ok in photoshop. I usually just do a simple unsharp mask at 100% and between 0.7 and 1.3 radius

Hmm alright. Thanks for the heads up, I dont really mind going to photoshop for sharpening of some files. If it does turn out to be an issue I may look into other software specifically for the fuji.

For anyone who hasn't seen yet Fuji released a firmware update for the X-E2 This morning. It is supposed to make the viewfinder more responsive and gives you better peaking in MF and gives you some more options to what you can set your Fn buttons to.

Having only had my XP1 since last Friday I haven't yet upgraded the firmware on it. What can I expect to gain by doing so ? ? ?

A little help please form an X-T1 owner. I thought the AF lock speed was slow on my camera (I always used back button lock) as it hunted a bit. I just realised the shutter button half press is MUCH faster.

Can you wantch this video (sorry crap phone video and rotated the wrong way) with your sound on and tell me if your X-T1 funtions the same or do I have an issue ?

If you hop on Fuji's website and look up the most current firmware for your camera it will tell you what improvements have been made over the base firmware. I just got my XE2 Monday so I don't have a huge amount of experience with it yet but I will try to write up my impression of the update after work.

Damnit, the X-E1 kit is down to 699 on Amazon (though it seems like they only have black one in stock right now). So tempting at that price, but last thing I need is another camera lol

Braver than I am. I've sold the 35L, 16-35L, and 24-70L. Holding on to the 50L, 135L, and 5D2. It took me a long time to acquire this gear, and I'm having commitment issues with Fuji. It's irrational because I barely touch my Canon gear, but..but..

*sigh
