After selling off all my sony gear (.. well one lens is still listed but soon enough wwill be gone) I decided to reinforce my commitment to my decision to Fuji as my primary system by throwing out the stack of boxes in my closet.

(still have my gh5 for video)

as I dug through my closet and pulled out the sony boxes for the gear I sold I looked at all my Fuji boxes and wondered why I still had them.

I started keeping boxes for everything (camera related) when I saw I was constantly flip flopping on sysytems .. I know when I buy used I prefer things to come in its original box and with as much of what came in the box originally as possible. but also just liked keeping boxes.. however living in a small apartment , with limited closet space, its crazy to let boxes take value closet space , especially when its items that at least at the moment i'm certain I wont be selling any time soon.

so I threw out the xh1 box ...the 23f2 , 50f2 and 50-140 boxes sit by my front door, not broken down yet... why is it so hard to let go of crispy clean boxes?!:-D .. i'll probably take them out tomorrow morning when I go out for work.

the box for the xpro3 though I kept in the closet , i'm still on the fence about that camera..

BOOM. I still have all mine but luckily up on a high shelf in my office, there is no way I'd be able to keep them otherwise, it is nice when selling though. Fair play for making the decision hope it proves the right one for you.

Dribbled out some thoughts on the XF50-140/2.8 to a camera today, still not working... I really need to take a bit more time on these I think, but getting the hang of a bit more in each video.

Tether Tools have kindly given me one of their Air Direct units, it's been sitting in a box since Friday pending me doing this vid and one more I'll do this week. Looking forward to using that but not so sure I'll have anyone to photograph so best think of something...

I always keep the boxes for cameras and lenses, as I find it does help for getting top dollar on resale (obviously condition of the equipment tops all).

If space is at a premium, and you are hesitant about tossing them, why not fold them flat. They would minimize their consumable space and allow for you to put them under a bed, in a drawer, or something like that.

Out videoing some more of the local wildlife, then it downpours with rain. I got soaked but the gear was fine, of course, least the sun came back out and dried me off.

A 33 second clip of the Coots and their chicks, well one of them, working hard continuing to maintain their nest dispite the bad weather. You can really see the rain when the vid is in 4K.
Shot on the X-T3 with the XF50-140 f/2.8 in DCI 4K @ 25p with Eterna film sim and graded in Davinci Resolve, no tripod this time. #steadikim

I keep all of my boxes in a buffet/cupboard, but the wife is actively trying to sell the buffet, so the boxes will need to find a new home soon  it's so hard fighting against the conditioning to keep the boxes for resale, but I'd love to just let them go and not worry about that neurosis anymore! At the same time, if you discard the boxes, then you have a bunch of manuals, pouches and other small bits + bobs to find a home for; maybe I don't need any of that stuff either, it's all just clutter.

There's one box I won't throw away though: my Nikon 500mm PF box, as I have a feeling that lens will attain legendary status someday, so want to keep everything associated with it.

Doing a bit of lens testing this week, will be taking a trip into the city to catch up with a street shooter friend of mine and put this lens through it paces as it's probably better at that then wildlife, although swallows are darn near impossible to get in frame with a long lens, least for me who is no birder what so ever.. Very dull day too so ISO cranked up, still impressed that it managed to lock on to such a fast moving and little subject
