I got one used during the sale, so the price was extra attractive. It's actually a nice lens, but there's really no "room" for it in my kit.

me too. It's nice for a daylight pocket lens (similar to using a X100) since it's 2.8 which is fine in daylight with 1/4000th and 200 ISO. It's tiny, especially on the XA. But yeah, it's not a FL I love (I much prefer the 23mm) and 2.8 is kinda *yawn*tastic. The 18-55 is basically just as nice and more versatile. I only use the 27 if I need tiny.

18-55mm, forgot my shutter speed was at 1/30 for this shot... doh! Amazingly I was still able to salvage what looked like an almost completely blown out shot... these X-trans sensors are no joke.

speaking of the size differences, here's both kits at roughly the same distance and FL...

Doesn't seem like a fair game with the hood on the 85. :p

yeah, I debated taking it off but didn't because that's how I shoot the 85, but with the xume rings on ALL FOUR FUJI LENSES, and specifically the 56mm, that's how I'll shoot it. I don't need a massive hood but I like enough so I can set the camera face down w/o worrying about something on the table getting to the front element. Also just enough to keep some spray/splashing off or kids fingers but w/o going nuts. I had to take the sigma's hood off to fit in the picture...

I still have my 50L to sell before I can make that claim :-(

but congrats!

Thanks

v35skyline wrote in post #16873203 (external link)
Braver than I am. I've sold the 35L, 16-35L, and 24-70L. Holding on to the 50L, 135L, and 5D2. It took me a long time to acquire this gear, and I'm having commitment issues with Fuji. It's irrational because I barely touch my Canon gear, but..but..

*sigh

Brave or Stupid, not decided yet. My only gripe was the time it took to lock focus but have now realised that my shutter button locks faster than my AF-L button. The back button does an extra hunt. Cant figure out why. I seem to be in the minority, only one other person on the fuji forum said they had the same as me. Very frustrating as i naturally use back button.

Nice comparison and a reinforcement as to why I made the leap in the first place.

Quick review of the new firmware on the XE2

The viewfinder is noticeably smoother post update although you can still trip it up. For focus & recompose it works great, if you are focusing while panning it is possible to cause it to lag a bit although it is less than before and doesn't do it consistently. I feel it is pretty on par with the XT1 EVF I compared the XE2 with on monday before purchasing my camera.

Focus peaking works just as well as before but now you can change the colors. I really like the split level focus screen that you can use so I don't see myself using this much.

They partially addressed the issue of it taking so long to switch back and forth between EVF or LCD only shooting or EVF + LCD by making a shortcut menu for the function that can be mapped to one of the Fn keys on the camera. While this is better than before since you don't have to go into the menus to achieve this it is still not ideal. I would like to see an option for EVF Shooting with LCD playback and menus in the next update, I just can't imagine a situation where I would want to use the EVF to navigate menus or review photographs, but this is the only option you have if you don't want the lcd to be on all the time.

I was wondering about back button focusing. I was so used to it with my Canon gear.

I have given up woth back button on the Fuji, I have asked Fuji to check its function though when the camera is in to get the light leak sorted as on the Fuji forum only one other person said they are experiencing the same as me. Everyone else says shutter and back buttons lock at the same speed. Mine is noticeably different. Shutter button locks as fast as my 5D2. Back button locks like a point and shoot

me too. I'm learning to adapt to the new system, but I would love true back button focusing.

I put bubble stickers on my AFL button to help find it while shooting. It helped a bunch.

I did the same, but mine don't fit as well as yours. Did you buy them locally or online? What are the stickers intended for (so I know what to ask for)? Better yet, can you post a picture of the packaging?
