I also hate threading on rings. I leave the adapter rung attached and use an OpTech hood hat as a lens c. FuFits over the lens with adapter ring easily and comes off quickly. Although it is a soft cap, I've never had a problem.

If you use the lencoat branded soft caps they have a hard plastic bit in the end so it protects the front element more. I LOVED that setup there but because the Lee rings were closer in size to the lenses it wasn't a big deal. Now with the fujis the 18-55 and 55-200 both become T shaped with rings on them which makes them very awkward in a bag. That's why I switched. The 10-24mm could easily live w/o the xume setup. I have no fear about the NDs falling off. But I do question whether the Xume adapter rings are strong enough to hold in place while inserting and removing rectangular filters. And with rectangular filters you have a larger lever arm so it wouldn't take much of a "knock" to release the Xume adapter. For a while I was using Xume adapter rings to attach a screw on hood to my XF 35. It works really well...as long as I didn't bump into anything. The slightest bump and the hood would fall off. Screw on ND filters are small and flat enough that this hasn't been an issue. jacobsen1 wrote in post #16878471 that's exactly how I did my DSLR landscape kit forever. That's how I had my TSE-24 when with Canon - Lee adapter constantly on and a lens coat on the end. Im thinking of doing the same with the 10-24. Leica M11 | Leica Q2 | Sony α7RV

I also use both of those lenses a lot more in non landscaping settings (people shots) where I don't want the ring on there (especially with how wide it is). But yeah, it all depends on what lenses you're doing this with and how you use them. With regards to screw on NDs, Ive used B+W before but now there seems to be millions of options and different coatings. Can anyone recommend a cheap one that is neutral? I went with a hoya HMC since it's not too expensive in this size (67mm). Here's a shot of the two size options you have: I went with slightly larger which means you CAN'T use your hoods and everything is slightly more expensive, but I LOVE the slightly wider look (it's like a mini hood) -vs- the tapered look going smaller. The added step ring and xume both combine to make enough of a hood it's all I'll use anyway. Also, get these: http://www.bhphotovideo.com …_Screw_In_Metal_Lens.html xume is supposedly working on lens caps but until they do grab those and a spare filter ring for each lens, it's MUCH better than fujis caps, but the fujis won't work once you step the lens up/down anyway.
