just looking at some manual focus lenses for x-mount. Without the old split-screen from days past any keys on focusing with this macro?
Most of the recent X cameras have "focus peaking" - read up on how to enable it on your specific camera, it will work will all lenses. You can practice with it with an existing lens installed on your camera to see if it is something that you can work with when focusing manually. You can also "zoom in" while focusing manually - that is, the camera will show you a small portion of the scene, at higher magnification, while you focus manually, so you can refine your focus visually.
Your X camera may also have a simulated split prism view - again, check the manual.

but thankfully only location shoots coming up. Turns out the power cable from my house (studio is a separate building in my garden) was half buried in the ground & not in a conduit and the cable is not an armoured one. Thankful that it's tripping the RCD in a way but now I'm off the the hardware store to buy some armoured cable so I can do it right, feckin hate when people take short cuts on things like this.

She was terrified... guess we're going to have to get her a quad
