just looking at some manual focus lenses for x-mount. Without the old split-screen from days past any keys on focusing with this macro?

Most of the recent X cameras have "focus peaking" - read up on how to enable it on your specific camera, it will work will all lenses. You can practice with it with an existing lens installed on your camera to see if it is something that you can work with when focusing manually. You can also "zoom in" while focusing manually - that is, the camera will show you a small portion of the scene, at higher magnification, while you focus manually, so you can refine your focus visually.

Your X camera may also have a simulated split prism view - again, check the manual.

^^ Agreed!

As a different perspective I tried the focus peaking with the Roko 12mm and have since decided to simply manually focus without the peaking. I configured a button on the front of the camera to perform a zoom. So I zoom in, focus with my eye through the view screen, zoom out, compose and shoot. This works with a 12mm focal length at f8. I've been successful at f2 but a little more hit and miss. The point is that you have options and the focal length may influence which option works for you. It's not nearly as difficult as I thought it would be.

Outside of a quick peaking my preferred method of manual focussing is the split view where I have the composition in the small screen and the 10x zoom in the larger portion. For static I just zoom in.

The power to my studio is down  but thankfully only location shoots coming up. Turns out the power cable from my house (studio is a separate building in my garden) was half buried in the ground & not in a conduit and the cable is not an armoured one. Thankful that it's tripping the RCD in a way but now I'm off the the hardware store to buy some armoured cable so I can do it right, feckin hate when people take short cuts on things like this.

Quick informal portrait, the idea is to make it look casual kinda like a snap shot from a friend, as no one is working in the office lately, so off to the coffee shop early this morning so a meet. Only took 10 shots but this one was about right, just out of C1 and I don't think any Photoshop is needed. Lit with the bare bulb of an AD200, the only other light is coming through the window making a nice bit of interest in the background.

I dunno why but the cord, pillar and plywood on the far right are very distracting to me.

Oh yes, and the top of the coffee cup just in view as well as the radiator and the small bit of green leaf on the lower right. There is a multitude of distractions in there, not to mention the angle of the table and wall....
It's was meant to be a bit wonky though so fitting for the request.

Great! I just traded my son-in-law a Trail 90 for a shower install. He loves it. I'm too old to enjoy it anymore.

They're great little bikes! Our landlord left it over here for us so she could learn on it, but as I said, she's not very comfortable riding so far... thankfully she's comfortable going 2 up on the trails, unfortunately that only works up to a point though ;-)a

My boss' son got this one of me (with my X-H1) doing a river crossing... I went through on his little CRF 80 first and got just a little wet so I figured this time I'd lift my feet on my bike... yeah, it didn't go according to plan  On the plus side, I think he's got a future with photography!

This is him testing the water depth before deciding he'd rather have me ride his bike across for him, with my taxi waiting to bring me back for my bike on the other side

Just came home with the 16/1.4. And now I realize how much I've been missing the 24mm equivalent.
