Get one of each. I love my Xt2/XPro2 combo. When I do tripod work it's the XT and usually most all other times it's the Pro.

For the price the X-T3 a good right now (but it's no X-PRO), I use the 16-55/2.8 for events and the AF is solid on it, don't now about the 16-80 though but that does seem like a one lens solution for daytime alright. I kinda prefer two cameras and two primes still but the 50-140 has me a little spoiled so my 90/2 not getting much of a look in, not that I'd be selling it of course.

Yeah, I mostly use primes for weddings (along with 2 bodies), but I do still find myself using the 18-55mm for some situations and frequently wish it were both a bit wider and a bit longer.

My second body is also my X-Pro2 right now, and though it works, it is somewhat limiting given that I have to use an IR cut filter on whichever lens I'm using, which is partly why I gravitate to the 18-55mm on it right now... that's my main reason for wanting another body, the AF improvements aren't necessary for me right now, but certainly welcome.

More playing around with the IR Chrome filter. The XF 35/1.4 works great for IR, but it definitely has a lot more CA/fringing in IR wide open than it does with visible light.

Well, Amazon had a warehouse deal on the X-T3 with the 16-80mm so I pulled the trigger. I've had really good luck with their warehouse "used" deals in the past... my X-Pro2 was part of a "used" bundle from Ritz camera and the X-Pro2 itself was BNIB with 0 actuations... doubt lightning will strike twice, but who knows

As close as the 16-55/2.8 can focus at 16mm & the front element got a good clack from it's beak, both survived with no damage. They have become a bit pushy in the last few weeks, hissing and honking at people walking along the bank. Thankfully only a few stupid people of aggressively strike out at them not realising the birds have a home here and the people are guests. I have a little 'chat' with those people and hopefully they get the idea. This cygnet was being a bit too pushy and there were a good number of little kids about, so I took it up the path and back into the lake just in case it nipped a kid to hard.

HONNNNNK!!

I've been debating letting my X-T2 go and purchasing a X-T3. It just seems like I'd be happy with that camera for YEARS to come. Spending funds on a new body now seems kinda' foolish... although I have been spending quite a bit on hifi and vinyl.

I've not been shooting barely at all since COVID hit; concentrating on my business. My creative side NEEDS to get back to practice though...

It was the same boat for me. Once COVID hit, I barely took the time to shoot with trying to keep things going and renovations on the home. All my spending and creativity was going into paint, drywall and trim.

Though I did really like my XT-2, I decided to spring for an XT-3 last week. Sold the XT-2 yesterday.

Image quality wise, as everyone knows, they are so close. But, what I do appreciate about the new body with the time I have managed to spend trying it out, is faster more accurate auto focus and tracking, more focus points and I find that it has better low light performance with the same lenses. I like the refreshed button and dial feel as well. With the AE-L and AF-L buttons more prominent, I remapped the AE-L button to back button focus, something that just didn't work well on the XT-2. To my aging eyes, I really, really like the improved EVF, a nice improvement.

Now I just have to make the time to get out.

Cheers,
Bryan

$1350. Only roughly 10% less than getting it new right now, but enough to justify it for me since I got it for about $1450 after taxes and shipped. The great thing about Amazon warehouse is that I have a month to return it with no questions asked, should be plenty of time to make sure there's no issues with it.

Still exploring the possibilities of the 16/1.4.

Outstanding, Robert, there's a great moodiness captured with this portrait. Love the framing too because it gives you environmental context around the sides of the subject, but also grants a blurred background directly behind.
