Looks nice... but no weather sealing or second card slot makes it a no go for me. I do like the larger grip. Makes me wonder what the X-H2 will look like.

I've not thought about upgrading in a while, still happy with my X-T1 and X100S. But, I'm thinking that X-T3 (used for me) would be quite the step up in features like AF and all that. Thanks for pointing this out. That's a lot of great stuff packed into this little body.

$999 is just an incredible price for that camera. Not sure you're going to find used ones much cheaper than that... the 1 year warranty alone is worth it.
Do it, you will not be disappointed. The AF alone will make it a HUGE jump for you.

Out of all the great things I'm looking forward to a little one like the locking diopter just is tops for me. That and the touch screen.

I have to get an AF capable Fuji lens first of course, or with it. I literally use 100% all Samyang fast primes with my X-T1. But I'm starting to finally warm up to the idea of getting an AF capable Fuji lens with it. I've used my X100S for all the AF moment needs up to this point. I'm thinking for a Fuji AF lens, I don't want more primes, I have lots of primes and they're all fast (F1.2 and F1.4), so I'm looking at an used Fuji 16-55 F2.8. I was excited at first for the 16-80 because of the range, constant F4, sealing, etc. But ultimately I know I don't care about the long range end as much as simply having F2.8. So I think my AF lens will be 16-55 F2.8 and I'll watch for a used X-T3. KEH often has good deals on these with warranties, I nearly never buy new.

Very best,

Don't pass up the 18-55... it's really good. IS and small and light in weight as well. That set up is $1,399 right now, new.
Since the 16-80 came out there may be a bunch of the 18-55's on the used market. Worth a look.

When I got the X-t2 way back when I bought it as the kit with the 18-55 thinking that I'd upgrade to the 16-55 at some point. I bought the 23, 35 and 50 f'2s instead. I do prefer primes.

I buy quite a bit used as well... well lenses anyways. My X-Pro2 was used and shortly after I purchased it I had to send it in for repairs and it ran me another $700 so I had a used camera for the NEW price. I don't think I'll ever purchase another used body WITHOUT a warranty. Lesson learned.

That's true, I will check into it as well. I'm not hung up on variable aperture. The main thing for me is just speed for low light and weather sealing. I prefer primes as well, just for the speed and I enjoy manual glass with long focus throw. But, for simplicity, I'd like at least one AF lens and it just makes sense to get a wider standard zoom (though I favor ultrawides, I have no real reason to get an AF ultrawide zoom like the 10-24 when I already have a 12mm F2 and don't need AF anyways). So the 16-55 or 18-55 or any flavor like that will likely do the job.

I buy most of my used kit that is not super cheap really old stuff from KEH where there's a 180 day warranty on the stuff, to avoid lemons.

Very best,

After my failed experiment with the X-T200 earlier this year, I wasn't at all sure I would try Fuji again, though the X-S10 that was announced today might very well change that (wondering why it wasn't called the X-T40? Because of the new grip design?). Never had been very much enthused by the X-T3 or X-T30 myself. Probably will wait until 2021 to make my move though, and certainly not before some rigorous reviews are out.

Fuji does a good job of segmenting their lineup to support a wide range of users. The XT-00 line will continue to use analog dials and have that "retro" feel and look, the X-S10 seems to be aimed at those who are more a fan of DSLRs and the usual PASM dial interface. I think most Fuji "fanboys" or whatever you'd like to call us, largely like Fuji because they don't do it how everyone else does it... if they started making most of their lineup have DSLR style controls I think many of us would be disheartened, I know I would. I vastly prefer having a physical and marked dial for shutter speed, aperture, exposure compensation and to a lesser degree, ISO.

Yeah, I was surprised at all the rumors that the X-H line wouldn't continue, I think it will eventually. I'm thinking the X-S10 is their aim at attracting more non-Fuji interface fans into the system possibly as a second system option, then they'll release the X-H2 to give them a clear upgrade path.

I actually like my X-H1 a lot more than I thought I ever would, I didn't even look at it twice when it came out, clearly not a camera designed for someone like me... but for $750 with the grip kit for an open box deal was too good to pass on and I really haven't regretted it, even if it sees far less use than my X-Pro2... in fact, it's honestly a toss up between that and my X-T1 for what gets used more

Very best,

I'm just going to throw a second vote in for the 18-55mm. You can find them under $300 easily any day of the week. It's a lens I've never regretted putting in the bag and I'm not typically a zoom guy. I'll be really surprised if the 16-80mm ends up replacing it for me, but we'll see.

I know some people hate the variable aperture, but I honestly wish Fuji would make MORE variable aperture lenses... to me the benefits far outweigh the cons. If I want it to perform like a constant aperture, I just set it to f4 when it's at 18mm, solves the problem perfectly for me whenever I've taken it out at events, then f2.8 is still there for me when I need it without the excessive bulk of a constant f2.8.

The only big issue I take with my 18-55mm is the non-marked aperture ring. I know most would say it's because it's variable aperture that it's like that, but I really wonder if that's the real original reason they did it that way, I wonder if it's not just how they planned on doing their zooms early on (look at the 10-24mm as an example), they could have easily just marked it "f2.8/f4" for the first stop marking... I have several vintage lenses that do that.

Speaking of variable aperture zooms... the 55-200mm is also very much worth looking at if you're looking for anything on the long end.

I have always noticed that Fuji has a magical combination of optics and software to produce images. Even my compact cameras perform well

18-55 gets high marks but to me after using almost most Fuji primes, I would say it is the weakest of all of them. When I needed wide, 14mm f2.8 performed much better. When I needed 23/35mm range, both 23m f1.2 and 35mm f1.4 were way better. Same when I needed 55mm, 56mm f1.2 was no match. I don't shoot f8 etc, so in that case, it would have been less of a difference. 18-55 did have the connivence factor and for the $250-$300 used is a good buy. But I would spend $400 on that old 35mm f1.4 and stick with it. Slow focus, what ever it was an awesome lens, when I had it.

I mean, it's hardly a revelation to say primes are sharper than zooms...

For what it is, the 18-55mm is hard to beat.
