Hi

A minor war memorial for the dead from a small Hampshire village (Shawford). Unlike most, this one was placed out of the village itself towards the top of the nearest hill with a great view of the Itchen valley and the South Downs beyond.

A moody image but I would I have prefered to see more detail in stonework. I guess this is on Shawford Down?

Thanks for your responses ... it's nice to know I'm not totally useless at this :)

Wreath: There was a wreath on the south side of the memorial, but as the sun doesn't rise in the north it isn't in this shot. As to a ceremony, I wouldn't know (I don't live here).

Location: Yes it's Shawford Down.

Details: I know what you mean. I'll have to see what I can do about that next Xmas.
