The Living Desert/Southern California Zoo and Botanical Gardens provided me the opportunity to see this animal that I probably never would have been able to see in the wild. This is an African Addax, posing regally with the mountains of Palm Desert as a background. These animals are slow moving and make an easy prey for the predators in Africa, including humans who shoot them for trophy's. This guy must feel lucky to be here. Comments always welcomed and respected.

Howdy,

Nice photo! By the way, I think you've got a Kudu there.

Thanks for the comments. Kudu's and Addax do look similar. However, it was posted at the zoo and also in their literature as an Addax. They don't have a Kudu in there as yet.

Was just about to say that I thought it was a greater kudu too.. Addax have a lighter tan coloration to them and no stripes down their back.. wonder if they didn't label correctly? Greater Kudu image in same pose (pulled offline)
