Feb 01, 2013 19:17 | #152 This lens was not impressive. It was "okay' and for the price it is, "okay" wasn't good enough. I had tried out the 28mm f/2.8 IS and it was sharp, very sharp. It probably produced more detail than any lens I have used. However, I thought I would prefer the 35mm and f/2 vs 28mm f/2.8 and I had hoped this would be as good, if not better, than the 28mm. So it is going back to Best Buy and I will get the 28mm. Just not sure if I will order it before the prices go back up, or wait until 'next time'.... Robin

Feb 01, 2013 21:19 | #157 Thank you much for sharing that link. That price is too GOOD to pass up - especially since it is supposed to go up $200 Sunday. Robin

Thank you again. thanks for your review too! i was on the fence about the 28mm 2.8 and from what i understand it's probably the sharpest of the three new IS primes (and the smallest). what i also like about it is it will work well with my 40d, whereas 35mm would have been longish for that body. http://instagram.com/edraderphotography/

Feb 01, 2013 21:33 | #159 I had the 28mm f/1.8 with my T1i and I loved it, it was perfect and a good little lens. However, when I first went FF, I was a little overwhelmed and sold this lens, thinking it too wide for FF. Since then, when shooting with the 50mm f/1.4, I have sometimes wished it wider and wished I had kept my 28mm. But the new version is way better - it is so sharp, I expected the 35mm to be too. It wasn't, so I boxed it up and sent it back the same day. With this deal, I am glad I did, as the 28mm ended up being a whopping $300 less than the 35mm. Robin

The newer technology and IS make it well worth the $100. So Canon's loss is my gain. Robin

Feb 03, 2013 16:49 | #163 the 28mm is interesting. I'm kind of on the fence between focal lengths. 35 seems kind of cramped indoors, 24 is good, but be careful of distortion, and 28 is also good. My biggest issue is that being 2.8, it's overlapping my tamron which I love dearly. Love the idea of a smallish 28mm with excellent optics, even if it's a 2.8 lens.... it just doest scream top priority, but the GAS is very very compelling. Sony A7siii/A7iii/ZV-1 - FE 24/1.4 - SY 24/2.8 - FE 35/2.8 - FE 50/1.8 - FE 85/1.8 - F 600/5.6 - CZ 100-300 - Tamron 17-28/2.8 - 28-75/2.8 - 28-200 RXD
