Monastery stairs in Estonia

These two pics were taken last summer in Tallinn, the capital of Estonia. In the center of the city there is a small monastery, open for tourists as well. After taken the first picture (empty stairs), the monk student (?) came down carring the child, which I captured as well. Which one do you prefer? Or can we make this kind of comparison at all? Any other comments?

Hi Olli

I think i would leave the warn out stairs as they are.
The second shot IMHO is almost a portrait and it takes away everything from the staircase.

But again , thats just me.

Nice composition on that stairs pic. Increasing the contrast and decreasing the light might give a more dramatic look to it.

Olli,
I must go with the consensus. They cannot be compared. Both are good captures.
My preference is number one because of the air of mystery I feel around it.
