After learning lighting with Speedlights for the past year, I was thrilled to get a set of studio strobes for Christmas: The Elinchrom D-Lite it 2, 2-light To Go kit. They're just about the very bottom end of the Elinchrom lights, but they're certainly a step up from my YN560s, especially now that I have modeling lamps.
The kit came with two 26" Portalite softboxes, and this reflector
, whose description says it's for an umbrella even though the kit didn't come with an umbrella. dunno.
My usual subjects are people - standard modeling (business headshots, some glam modeling) and "specialty" modeling (cosplay/costumes, performers, dramatic lighting); product photography; and getting into some architecture/interior photography (I'll probably just keep using the Speedlights for this, for ease of portability).
Are Elinchrom modifiers and accessories pretty universal for all Elinchrom lights? Any third-party that's effective but maybe less expensive?
What are some must-have modifiers or accessories? What are your favorites? Some things that I might want to want to put on my wish list:
- Beauty dish
- Snoots and grids, especially for a hard/focused spotlight effect
- Strip box for rim/edge lighting
- A boom to go on a stand, so I can put a light overhead without the stand being in the shot?

The Eli octas set up and tear down quick- 30 seconds. I have not used the deep octa yet, so I can't comment on it, but I love the wrap on the 53"
