Always enjoy their presence. They are so big compared to other WPs.

Beautiful shots. I've spent two cold mornings on my deck trying to photograph the pileated that's been hanging around. No luck yet. Thanks for sharing.

Great shots and great bokeh. Last February was when they descended upon me; I'm counting the days.

And they are so very photogenic! Super shots, Rex. If you play their call on an iPad or laptop, they respond quite amazingly. ;) they'll do some close fly-overs looking for the new guy!

Nice shots. We have pileated occasionally - I love the way they swoop... they are so strong they just need a one flap to cover about 50 feet.

Awesome. Two great shots of a beautiful bird. Never seen one in these parts, but I know they live around here.

Thank you, everybody, for your generous comments.
Stick with it, Dan. Have the camera ready and be ready to pounce.
Al, hopefully you'll see them soon. Ours are year round.
Ian, my wife tried it a couple sessions ago with them and they wouldn't come back to the call. Doesn't mean they won't next time.
Bubby, they do look powerful.
Jo, look in the woods for perches. I am fortunate to have woods all around, but you can bring the woods to you.
Rex
