$3,599 is creeping pretty close to the price of a very nice Canon 300mm 2.8L IS v1....sure, you get the zoom with the Sigma, but that Canon has quite the following.

I had the Sigma 120-300 OS, great lens, but got an incredible deal on a Canon 300mm 2.8 non-IS, so I made the switch and figured I could always go back to the Sigma when the new one came out....decisions....

The 17-70 is for crop only and 120-300 is FF compatible right?

.

A) It's NEW, not a 20 year old used lens.

B) It zooms

C) If the previous versions are any indicator it has flawless optics

D) Sigma prices always creep down.

E) Have a nice day!

Mine is 2006 model, so only 6 yr old. Not usre where 20 yr came from.

B) It zooms

very nice feature

C) If the previous versions are any indicator it has flawless optics

All models have great optics, problem with non OS was crappy AF. Problem with newer OS model was failing OS and no AF limiter. Hope all this gets resolved with this version.

D) Sigma prices always creep down.

Yup. next yr it will be < $2800 or so used.

You saved me the time of typing all that. ;)

Hope you're right about the $2,800 price.

I was thinking the original pre-IS from 1987, sorry. Still, the first IS one could be up to 13 years old.
