Does anybody know how far away a speedlite 430EX II can be away from a transmitter (in this case my Canon 650D as its wireless to speedlites) for it to still function OC?

Looking to place it on a tripod (when i get it) near my subject and for me to be further away.

You need to learn to use google ;-)a

Canon say up to about 12 meters but at clear sight you can get more.

Look in the camera's manual. There are distance specifications for different slave locations. Typically in a graphical image with penguins (!) in it.

Cheers danny! I actually did google it but the only things that came up relative to distance, was how far the flash will reach!

Thats funny. When I Googled it it came up with an owners manual that tells you what you want to know.

One of Google's, and any search engine's, short comings is that one has to anticipate the search algorithm's ability to parse a question. What would be instructional is if each posted the exact question asked of Google.

Oh, and a key factor is how well protected the sensor window on the remote flash is from bright light. The better protected the greater the distance.
