Where to buy in San Francisco CA

Hi.

I'm on San Francisco for two days, and i need to buy a Sigma 1.4x tele converter, and maybe a Canon 60D camera.
Is there a photography store like adorama, b&h on San Francisco ?

Try Discount Camera on Kearny Street (near Union Square). They seem to have a wide selection if I recall. I stopped in last fall to replace lost lens caps. Prices weren't too bad....but it was just a lens cap.

There is calumet store in SF.

I would make sure NOT to buy from the stores located close to Fisherman's Wharf.

Not that I ever would, but why not?

Because it's like buying from the stores that were "Going Out of Business" that one found around Times Square in NYC a few decades ago.

Yes, they are bait and switch shops and I do not trust them. They can also can get quite aggressive if you ask too many questions. I would spend my coin anywhere but in those stores.

There are plenty of vendors in and around San Francisco worthy of your business.

Keeble &Schutat , palo alto, if you dont mind driving 30 miles south.

That has to be one of the worst sites I have seen in a long time. It just lists every camera store that has been in the area in the last few years, many of which have been out of business for a long, long time.

Keeble & Schutat , palo alto .
There are maybe 6 stores in SF , but by the time you find a parking spot , get the " let me find someone who can help you - I just stopped going there .
There is a big parking lot behind the Keeble & Schutat used store . I just walk thru and go across the street to new stuff store . They have one of the best book sections I have found . Prices range from web to about 10% over . The people in the used store are the best ones to ask questions of .
There are stores in Berkley - I did not like the 3 - I went to and San Jose camera . San Jose camera - 1 in 4 salesmen will talk and listen to you - if you know what you want , they are OK , BUT I don't go there anymore [last 8 years] .

Definitly i won't buy anything on fisherman's warf, and also i found i couple of photo stores on china town, very similar, all trying to sell anything twice or more the normal price ...
I will try tomorrow on Calumet and Keeble Keeble & Shuchat.

Do they have lenses on display? I drive down from SF to Los Altos every couple weeks but never stopped by there. I wouldn't mind trying out the 100-400L.
