98.1% with ~54,000 ratings is poor?

What risks are you guys worried about here? Bigvalue has been the subject of several threads here, and the consensus has been that they have fantastic deals and are good to deal with.

They have lots of ugly neg feedback: didn't ship for weeks; shipped empty box; didn't include accessories; items were damaged; etc.

Sure seems a little fishy, though they clearly fulfill many, many more orders with nary a glitch. I think that biggest risk is having to deal with the headaches of an issue.

It's not great when all you're doing is putting something in a box and mailing it. There will always be difficult buyers, but most good sellers don't have 1 out of every 50.

Very true. I suppose when you sell that sort of volume you're bound to screw up a bit and get negative feedback. A month ago, when they were running a 24-105 deal I looked through their feedback pretty thoroughly, and it wasn't stellar, but it wasn't much worse than some other well respected companies.

B&H has a 97% rating on resellerratings.

I just threw it out there. I already have a 60D, so it doesn't much matter to me. $585 is what you'd pay for used and clearly you'd have at least some recourse shopping with a company like Bigvalue vs John Doe from the forums.

But they are an authorized Canon dealer, Id buy form them 1000X before I bought from some no name on Ebay. The Ebay seller that stole $800 of my money had a 98+% feedback rating and several thousand ratings and that didnt mean jack. He took my money, closed up shop and ran. Paypal did nothing about it.

That is the one scenario I would worry about. Does a seller like Bigvalue at some point just blow their "store" up and evaporate with a bunch of cash for hot orders that never get fulfilled? Is that maybe the intended end game for some of these sellers: Make a bit of cash by sort of skimming off they system for a while; build a good enough rep; then hit for a big pay day? kozal01 is the first person I've seen mention it happening to them.
