After selling my sigma 150/500 I decided to buy a sharp lens. Went to BnH's site and grabbed the 70/200 f4L 560.00. I think its the best money I spent so far. And of course here's the obligatory duck shot. I ran thru alot of trial and error in post but I dont think I really had to run major sharpening on most of my shots with this lens.

Such a great lens. Great price, too! I think everyone's first shots with this thing involve some sort of waterfowl. I got ducks, geese, and a few seagulls on my first day out with it. :P

I think you're right. Other than test shots around the house, I think my first subjects were waterfowl at a local park.

i miss that lens a lot! colours were so vibrant, sharp, and such a light lens. is it the cheapest "L" out there too? i think so. win/win lens.

Great colours/contrast in that shot! Congrats, that was my first L as well!

And yeah, I believe it's the cheapest L!

Congrats, the 70-200 is a wonderful lens and great bang for your buck. I have the IS version and it is my favorite. Sometimes after importing images to Lightroom, I go make my coffee only to come back and realize I don't need any PP. Its tack sharp and produces lovely colours.

LOL! Mine too, shot a few Duck pics at the local zoo over Christmas when all the African animals were hiding indoors in the warmth!

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.
