Snowy Owl Canada Style

A very windy day here this sunday, I was getting discouraged and about to head home when I spotted this Snowy Owl. It's plumage almost too white it stuck out against the now dirty old snow if you knew what you are looking for.
I set the tripod up legs on either side of the barb wire fence that surrounded the field he was resting in. The wind was just a howling and made for some cool shots. Then to my delight a truck sped by and scared him right towards me into the wind in slow mo.

I am curious if Spot Metering would have helped expose the owl a lil better and gotten rid of the blown out highlights????

Agreed! I have been out so many times with no luck.

Very nice, it's always fun to see these visitors. I like that shot with the hay still hanging in the air, after its launch

It probably would have helped a little bit, but these things are just tricky when only partially in the sun.

Yep for sure on the spot metering for Snowy's.

And I see a much longer lens in your future, you shoot them once and you're hooked

I'm headed back tommorow.
I seem to have found quite a cache of them.
Seen about 5-6 everytime I go out to this area and with Short Eared owls and Horned owls all in the same territory
