I'm currently on holiday and this is my main lens as always.

I don't usually take advantage of the IS on this lens but I've come across a few spots that I wanted to drag the shutter and the IS helped greatly. I've been shooting as slow as 0"3 and still got tack sharp results handheld.

This thread has came alive since I last checked. I am finally seeing some 'magic' in these pictures. I bought the Sigma 35mm 1.4 as that thread's images looked 'magical' However the size of the Sigma is causing me to get rid of it.

Where does the size/weight of this lens compare to my 85mm 1.8 and 40mm 2.8 ?

Yeah I am really interested in this as well. Can someone post a pic of the 35 and 85 side by side and also from the top to show glass size? Thanks! From the measurements on Amazon, it seems like this lens and the 85 are really close in size.

BTW, this thread and all your awesome pics have me looking to pick one of these up in a few weeks. I have the old 35 f2 and looking to upgrade to this. I was looking at the 35L and the Sigma (didn't really want a third party lens although I know these are great). I like the old 35 a lot, but not the noise in situations where it's not appropriate.

35mm f2 is larger than both the 85 1.8 and the 40stm. About the same weight as the 85 I suppose. It's larger in diameter than both. I'll post pics of all three in a few hours.

I no longer own the 40mm STM, but here are the 35mm IS and 85mm side by side (sorry for the phone-quality pics - I'm at work ^^). To me, there's not a huge difference in their size and weight, but the 35mm def feels stubbier on the camera body.

Thank you. Im glad the 35 is that much smaller and lighter than my Sigma.
