hello i am new here and i have some questions about taking pictures at night.
i am using a 10d and want to know how to take good pictures at night.
i took these last night using the Tv feature @ 4secs.

the lens was EF 50mm that came with the camera
the quality was not what i was looking for. how do i get a more clearer picture?

Well, they look a little bit underexposed to me, but night photography can be a bit hit and miss, experiment with different exposures. I would use manual mode, and then try varying by 2 or 3 stops either side of the metered exposure. I would also use f/8 or f/11. When metering for shots with the headlamps on, measure the exposure before you turn the lights on, and again, use manual.

Another thing, the "ghost" headlamps are almost certainly due to filter reflections. If you have a protective filter on there, I would take it off for shots like those with very bright point sources of light. Well, I would take it off for good, but that's a matter of opinion... ;-)a

Experiment lots, and you'll get the hang of it!

What scr7b said. Plus try shooting RAW for more control over the results.
