You guys are all hilarious! Thanks for the concern! :) :D

Good news!

I just got off the phone with Dell. They're shipping me another 5D3 Kit to me via FedEx overnight. I just checked the tracking number and it all checks out. Just waiting until later for FedEx to update their tracking info to see that it has left their PA location. Can't wait! UGH!

Dell's customer service is crap at best.
I got off the phone with them at 9:30am and they said it takes about 6 hours to get anything done with the 3rd party distributor who ships the product. I was fumed because I wanted to make sure that my item shipped TODAY via OVERNIGHT. I did not want this to lag and get screwed and have to wait until Friday-Saturday. My original expected was tomorrow, which seems like it'll hold true... albeit a couple of days after initial receipt of package. Haha!

I guess it could have been worse... but it still sucked. My excitement was priceless... but so was my dejection!

Wood.....EFFIN WOOD!

You are not alone OP. There was a story on the local news a few nights ago about folks ordering ipads and receiving ipad boxes full of (paper) notepads. I hope everything works out for you.

If Dell didn't ship direct, then the 3rd party is the culprit. Either someone didn't properly check a return in, or somebody is just ripping customers off.

I had a similar experience many years ago at Walmart. I bought an internal modem. Got home, opened the box, found newspapers and a book inside. I took it back to Walmart, and they argued with me. They would not refund the money, but finally agreed to an exchange. I insisted the box be opened there, in the store. Same crap..no modem, but paper and book. And the box was sealed. (or should I say..resealed?)

Anyway, to OP, I hope you get everything sorted out. The 5DIII is a great camera.

5DMKiii DIY kit! Awesome! Which piece of wood do you make the sensor out of? Maybe use some clear coated stuff for the mirror. Might have to be a rangefinder though... Glad its all sorted out.
