Yes and while she went on to imaginary heaven, everyone else in the USA who turns on either the tv, radio or gets on the internet has to go through real hell to avoid hearing about the story 24/7.

yes. I come to this site to read about photography, not athletes with problems.

So far the only ones who haven't heard are outside the USA. I keep forgetting that there's a healthy international population on this site

I have a bunch of friends who are and are not on this site who don't care much about football, let alone college football. As much as he's well known to us those follow, he doesn't make that much impact enough to be widely well known. And then, international level. :)

BTW, he's still denying that he's never been part of those who created the hoax, isn't he?

I've never watched a college football game in my life. Don't follow it, don't care about it. Yet even I had heard about this Te'o thing--the story is so preposterous, and the media as latched on like a dog with a bone.

Hmmm.... Ta'o was a star at Notre Dame... Indiana... who's biggest raval is USC... Los Angeles...

In the South, football scandals involve criminal records and payola, not imaginary girlfriends.

Thank you for using proper English (the subjunctive form has been neglected by a lot of people). :)

Close, but no banana. That is conditional case. If this condition, then that.
If I were Dell, I would....

Present tense subjunctive uses the infinitive form of the verb. That is not in current use and will make you sound like a pirate.

If I BE Dell, I would... is present subjuntive.

Can this thread get any further off topic?

I was hoping somebody would correct him.

Great, a grammar lesson. I just love a grammar lesson in a photography forum or a fb post, or a anything. Grammar people are a big pet peeve of mine.

Doesn't bug me. I learned what I learned, I'm 45 and I'm not going to change. Oh, and I passed English in parochial school, can't blame this train wreck on the public school system.

I must lead quite the sheltered life. Never heard the name until now, and I thought Te'o was some new abbreviation of Tebow when I ran across it. As for the OP, he's either an honest victim who still wants a camera, a lying idiot who wants attention and cooked up a story, or a lying criminal who ordered a camera, took it out to substitute wood, complained and did it again. Since I hate liars and criminals, and have never met him, I hope the OP falls under the honest victim category.

I knew it!! That guy who taught me was a Peace Corps guy who apparently was a major in Art History in College, but I am sure he was a fraud too. I remember Rodney Dangerfield who said the famous words: "I don't get no respect, if I WAS a politician, I would be honest". Since then, I heard the same WAS in EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND, and even a high executive of CEO of CocaCola in a presentation said the same.

The use of the word "were" is correct. You just cited the wrong rule of grammar.

If you came here to talk photography, I'm afraid you might be in the wrong thread. Not much photography talk going on in here these days.
