Wow - sounds like things may be looking up. Of course, you will have to post the latest unboxing!

Hey Jalal, your story seems to have caught the attention of other sites :)

I saw this link on PhotoLife Magazine's facebook page. Someone wrote an article about you!

:) it's definitely got around! I first noticed it on other forums, and then fstop lounge picked it up, and then fstoppers, and then it went from there. Soon enough it was on Twitter, and that's how Dell got in contact with me.

Christina,

I couldn't PM you, but how do you like your EF 70-300L ? What do you use it to shoot?

Thanks!

I love it. Wicked sharp wide open, AF speed is spot on fast, and the IS is incredible really. I use it mainly to shoot Dog Agility / Rally-O / Dog Sledding / Obedience sports, as well as Equestrian shows. I happily grab it for zoo trips or if Im trying to find interesting bugs in my backyard as well. I don't want to steal your thread and go off track with it though, you should ask about it on the lens thread if you want to hear more opinions on it: https://photography-on-the.net …ead.php?t=955129&page=297

I have a Flickr set dedicated to shots (only a small percentage of them. I'm lazy) I've taken with the lens if you want to see: http://www.flickr.com …n/sets/72157632438436756/ (external link)

And (assuming it comes through as written) that would imply that Dell did find a problem at some point in the supply chain, probably in the warehouse. At least it looks that way to me.

Wow, what an absolutely garbage article. No sources, no interviews, nothing. They pieced together a bunch of crap they read on the Internet and presented it as an article of truth. There's absolutely no supporting evidence for anything...pure trash.

Quite frankly, I've seen nothing that would convince me that the OP isn't sitting in his house with two 5D3s, happily waiting for a third one. While possible, I have difficulty imagining a worker in a shipping facility showing up to work day after day with perfectly pre-cut pieces of laminate flooring hoping that a 5D3 will show up, then manages to pull it off twice within a very short time without being noticed (once on an overnight delivery, where there's little time to spare!) and the victim somehow being the same recipient...I'm not saying it's not possible...I'm just saying that if I were to rate which one is harder to pull off, the OP being the scammer or the shipping facility worker being the thief, I wouldn't put my money on the latter.

Supposedly Dell said they investigated and found no wrong-doing on their end...

Apparently this is actually something that happens fairly often (not just with cameras, not even just with expensive objects). My dad was telling me how (he works for DND) one time, a group from the company was returning to Canada after being in Afghanistan (I think, can't remember where exactly.) They had already shipped their important equipment/computers on a plane and were going to ship the rest of their office supplies back to Canada via a cargo ship. These were just printers / faxes, papers and such. It got packed into the cargo. When the ship got to Canada and they opened the container, all of their boxes containing their office supplies had been opened and repacked with wood / garbage / bags, etc. It happens. It's not a lone person doing these things.

Dell is not really the one responsible. When cameras are shipped from Japan they are shipped in pallets if I'm correct. The problem could be on that end. Someone(s) steal the cameras from a pallet and replace the boxes in that pallet with wood/garbage/etc. A pallet could contain a lot of cameras. These cameras then get shipped out of the country and distributed around the world. Its not someone in Dell's shipping factory doing this. It most likely happened far before it ever got to Dell in the first place.

Its also absolutely ridiculous to think the OP is schemeing this whole thing and currently has two 5D3's. If he did, then he wouldn't have started this thread in the first place. Because thats completely idiodic and could very easily be caught. This stuff happens. Otherwise, Dell would have first accused him.

What's up people?

I've been working with Dell and they gave me a discount on the camera. Although the discount puts the camera lower then other retailers, it's not by a huge margin, and given the sh!t I've been through, I also asked for them to include a coupon as well. They're having the distributor check the box before it ships, and hopefully if all goes well, it'll go out today and I'll have it tomorrow.

Knock on wood!!!

:cool::lol:

-Jalal

Congrats. Hopefully you'll finally get a camera, and this thread will die. but something tells me this is far from over. Not exactly sure why, just a gut reaction.

Best of luck!
