Just curious if there were any howto's on the web anywhere on cutting mattes and framing photos. Honestly, I've never tried it before at all.

I use a rotary trimmer for my A3+ photos or if printed on the Epson I set my auto blade to double-cut. I have not framed anything yet but the expense and size ratio troubles me.

Mat Cutting Equipment is quite large and expensive. However, you can do a lot with a straight edge and a simple hand held cutter that takes a replaceable blade and is designed to cut at a 45 degree angle (for a bevel cut).

I think the Michael's Arts and Craft's stores probably have them.

Cutting overmat windows is largely a matter of patience and care (care not to cut your d--n fingers off!).

An overmat is essential for any print to be mounted under glass, because the print should never be allowed to touch the glass, or local ferrotyping will occur (that looks like a wet spot but isn't).
