might be a silly question but now I have a pano head for my tripod, it occurred to me that swapping the heads over every time I want to use either one, will quickly become tedious (screwdriver needed)

Would it be beyond the realms of reasonable to use a rapid-connect system between legs & heads? I'm already using Manfrotto RC0 to attach both ballhead & pano head to the camera, would another RC0 below the head be the way to go?

edit: I have manfrotto 055PROB legs with a 488RC0 ballhead, and now also a manfrotto 303plus pano head (which also uses RC0 system)

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

Instead of removing the head from the tripod each time, you could get an extra center column (external link) for the pano head.

Really Right Stuff has a really nice quick connect system for ballheads and the like. I use it to swap my tripod between a ballhead and pano gear, with designs on attaching a gimbal the same way some day.

Here it is sitting atop a leveling base under some pan gear. I just snap open the lever, pop on a ballhead, snap it closed and start shooting.

thanks for the suggestions - that extra center column sounds like a great idea! (and probably cheaper too...) cheers.

Does your tripod have a two-piece center column?

This might be even better... http://www.manfrottospares.com …ct/product&product_id=655 (external link)
