Vertical Camera Mounts?

Are there rigs that hold the camera pointed perfectly down and level that can move up and down vertically? And if so, what Lens would be the best for straight up and down photography.

The purpose is basically a scanner but for large objects that can't fit on the glass.

Thanks for any help!

EDIT: well I found some and they're aptly named copy stands! Now I just need to know what camera/lens combo would be best for this purpose.

Interesting -- I've never studied this type of photography. It looks like prime macros are most common for copy work.
