Has anyone used the Tokina repair service dept before? I was wondering about their turn around time. I sent them a lens in November and still have not received it back yet. They got my approval on 11-29 to do the work and gave me an estimate for 2-3 weeks. I have called their repair dept and left 3 messages but have not gotten any response. Any ideas TIA

About the same here. I approved early mid December for my 12-24/4.0. I got a email reply last week saying it was still on the Tech's bench and would be another 2-3 weeks. So, somewhat slow. Estimate was received in just 1 or 2 days from arrival, so i expected repair withing another couple days. Not so! :)

I have a Tokina 12-24F4 (new model) sitting in the closet. What went wrong with yours?
Was it the aperture ribbon or the MF clutch?

I heard many complaints online about the Tokina after-sale service. Both with their return times and the quality of their service. One guy said they actually broke the lens, returned it to him, and claimed he did it. Sucks.

That's why I'm trying to do my own Tokina a favour by not sending it anywhere. I'm trying to figure out how to disassemble it. I have the video in a thread I started for this, if anybody can help.

This thread is reason enough for me to not ever want to buy a Tokina lens.

I had very slightly bumped my Lens Hood as I brought it back inside a van window. Lens Hood fell onto the highway. Lens worked fine for a few hours then got Connection Error and the Diaphram would not work. $140 to repair and a replacement OEM Lens Hood included. Excellent lens, not regretting it. All brands have a repair dept! ;)

My Email was in response to one I sent asking for status update. Quick answer to phone call before sending it in too. So, pleased in many respects. Good thing was, I had my 13 year old Canon EF 20-35 as a spare with me at the time. :)

UPS tried to deliver my lens yesterday... but alas they shipped it to the wrong address, they were supposed to ship it to my office due to needing a signature for receipt but somehow they got my home address #'s with my business street name to start which was undeliverable and UPS (I guess) called them and it got routed to my home address. Since no one was home it got rescheduled for another day. I was unable to get the address changed to my business thru UPS without incuring a $5 charge. So another call had to be made to Tokina service dept to have them do a delivery intercept. I finally go thru to a great person named John who took care of the rerouting and I was impressed with his professionalism and kindness in taking care of my situation. I now have my lens in hand and will check it out this evening to be sure all repairs were done.

Hopefully all is fixed for you!

That is the only downfall with third party equipment... Service when you need it in a reasonable amount of time.
