So it finally arrived...and I am so happy with the quality. It was dark when i got back from work so havnt been able to take it out. I only have a 60D at the moment but still taken back by the quality.

But what I did do was stick a filter on it and tested it wit and without a 77mm Hoya filter and also grab a picture of the dog.

The images are in my dropbox https://www.dropbox.com/sh/bwrei5bhb3ud5zw/SPDya4e1mx (external link) (including full sized jpgs). No sharpening done.

Did you try it without the filter? I had a bad experience with a UV filter ruining IQ on a 70-200 a while back, and have never used another UV filter since.

Also, the max image size allowed on the forum in any dimension is 1024px. If you just wanted to share photos from your lens, this is probably a more appropriate place.

Glad you're enjoying it! :)

Your sample photos are HUGE! You may want to make them smaller for this forum.

One is with and one without...the IQ has hardly been effected at all. Even at a 100% crop it was debatable. The non-filter version (#2) is actually worse probably from the action of unscrewing it. I should have re-focused but I think the difference is so minute unless you pixel peek!

"ditto" on filters .. years ago I hung around with a photographer (before I was into it) who told me a filter is like takeing a picture from inside ur car ... all through another piece of glass .. since then I only use a filter to protect the element .. it comes off with the cap .... oh , and by the way, just go out and "enjoy ur new GLASS" ............
