I am going on a business trip to Japan in March and will have a weekend for sightseeing.
I don't want to bring a lot of lenses since its only a weekend, so trying to decide what to do.

I will bring my 15-85 on my T2i crop but should I also bring:
1. Sigma 30 for low light and museums? Or not that many to see?
2. 55-250 zoom? Any use in cities like Tokyo?

I reckon that cities in Japan would be fairly similar to the city/big town where you are and it would be a pretty safe bet that you could use the the same lenses, the same way that you would normally use them.
I haven't heard that Japan has any magical qualities that affect specific lenses.

I would bring all 3 of course but if only 1, the 15-85mm. For "tourist" pictures, it's really the most versatile lens. The Sigma 30mm would be cool for low light when you will go izakaya but the 15-85mm might do the job even there. The IS is really good and can handle most low light situation.

For the 55-250 it depend. If you like to take close candids of people, I would bring it.
Here some exemple of the 55-250 for close-up:

Bring the 15-85 and leave it at that. Travel light. One weekend you will be doing more walking and train riding than anything else. Where in Japan? In Tokyo check out the Emperors palace, Ginza district (especially at night), and Tsukiji Fish Market

Not sure why, but call me JJ.

Really? That's not a very useful comment.

I do not sight see in the city I live in. I also know what to expect if i did and also have the luxury of carrying every lens I own if I want or, I can go back home if I need a different one.

I do not know what to expect in Japan regarding photography and will not want to carry all my lenses half way around the world if I don't need them.

Tokyo is really not that different than any other large city. Your experience in cities apply. Sights are different but photographically, it's not all that different than shooting in New York, Chicago, or any other large city.

I'd go light and go with just a 15-85 and Sigma 30. Off topic, how do you like the 15-85 on your t2i? I bought my fiancee a t2i and wanted to get her a 15-85.

Love it... Use it 90% of the time... Great range, IQ, focus speed, and IS.
But much bigger and heavier then the kit lens. Feels substantial :)

If you'll be spending your time in Tokyo there really is a lot happening at night time so you might want to consider taking something that you can open up to try catch the action hand held.

I'd take the 15-85 for a day time walk around and put the 30 on at night.
