My photo club has a set of D lite 400 studio lights and I have 4 of the the RF603C's. Is it possible to set the Yougnuo triggers to fire the D Lites as it would enable me to use additional umbrellas / strobe softboxes during a shoot. Any advise on how to set the triggers would be appreciated if it is possible.

Paul

You should be able to. Its just a matter of having the correct cable to connect the 603's to the D lites.

Hi

Thanks for the reply.

I was hoping that I'd be able to fire the D lites and the speedlights (Umbrellas/softboxes) with the triggers wirelessly. That is a transceiver on the camera which will fire the D Lites and speedlights attached to the other transceivers.

Are you saying that I'd need to cable link the transceivers to each D Lite and then I'd be able to fire them wirelessly from the camera?

If you want each one to have a trigger. If not you can probably use the built in optical slave on the d lite.

Ah yes the built in optical slave! I think you've cracked it!

Let me run this past you so that I understand it. Set each of the D Lites to optical, put a transceiver on each of the speedlights either on a umbrella or softbox, let the transceiver on the camera fire the speedlights and they will fire the D Lites.

Will it matter that the speedlights will be in front of the D Lites.

If you are in a room where the light will bounce it around it shouldnt matter too much, but optical slaves can be tricky, so check your setup to see if is firing. Also check periodically as a minor move can make them lose the (bounced) line of sight.
