I'm curious...just how much better is the 50 f/1.4 over the 50 f/1.8

I have just ordered the 1.4 for some of the reasons listed in this thread..

1. Build
2. Fulltime manual focus
3. I only paid 40 for mine.. the rest was Christmas cash and gift cards...

I will probably give my 1.8 to my mom who just got the 350D

the Bokeh
the build
the FT MF
and the Bokeh

oh if i could name a 5th i would say.. the bokeh

You've grown accustomed to the 1.6 sensor, I'd guess. (nothing wrong with that, just hadn't heard a 50 referred to as wide before). :D

I used film not too long ago, and my 50 looked so much diff on my 10D. Almost used it as my wide angle. ;)
