I was at the zoo today with the kids and we fell in love (all over again!) with their Tiger! What do you think?

Neat photos of a rather impressive cat. I would be hard pressed to pick one as a favorite, they are all pretty good. The clarity in the shots is top notch. LIght is OK - did you use a flash? Composition is most likely what you could get from the vantage point.

Thank you for the feedback! So happy to receive it - you've made my day by describing the clarity as "top notch"! I did indeed use a flash (430 EX ii). I couldn't get any other angles or vantage points - its just the way the pen is set up and where he was sitting. I'm still pretty happy with them though. :)

Green / oranges look over-saturated a bit, almost like it was run through an HDR program.. Other than that, nice shot(s).

Are you hiding your EXIF on flickr for any particular reason? It's not visible for any of your images. Never really understood why people do that.. just curious.

I didn't run it through HDR, and I didn't add anything / change anything in LR either. Just added a watermark and cropped. :)

As for Exif data - I don't know - I guess that is an automated setting to have it hidden? Not sure.

I was shooting with a 70-200 IS L USM f/2.8.

I was in manual mode.....
1/250
ƒ/2.8I
SO 400
200 mm

Is that what you were wanting to know?

Thanks! Yep, though I was more curious about why it was hidden from flickr in general.. maybe that's a new default 'privacy' setting or something.. :)

Guess that tiger had some OJ for breakfast.. made him a bit more orange than I expected :D

Great shots....just like Titus213 (Dave) says.

If you're going to run them through PS, I'd just clone out the little "spike" coming out of the top of the cat's head. Make it the color of the rest of the blue/grey background.

Great job avoiding anything that looks man-made, too.

Thanks for sharing!

Image editing OK, encouraged, and expected. Thank you for helping me learn!

Oh my goodness! I hadn't even noticed the little "spike" thing! Thanks so much for pointing that out! I'll see if I can clone that out! :)

The 3rd one's the best. The tiger's eyes seem to say "I'd bet you're delicious with a little butter and lemon".

Beautiful shots. I have seen pictures like this before that make the front legs look really short. Not sure why that happens, maybe because the lens is wide open? Oh, I love his three different expressions. Well done.

Sharp and crisp. The expression of the tiger is great!
I would clone out the flash catch lights, they look unnatural.
I would also blur the fence on the back, the bokeh looks very nervous there.
Yellows and greens a tad oversaturated.
Great pics!

Number two is boss. I love the moment you caught. Cat is makin it known that he is to be respected. The geometry of the composition is great and well balanced.
