Shot my first wedding yesterday.. phew!... it was some experience.. 15+hours on my feet, and I was the second shooter!

Will be posting pictures in the photo sharing section over the next day or two, but here is what basically happened:

- another photographer contacted me to second shoot for the day
- I shot with my 5D3 + 70-200L II all day (my SD card, his CF card in my camera)
- He shot with 16-35II, 24-70II & 100L for ring shots.
- Was quite an eye opener and amazing experience
- Bride was 5 months pregnant, so we couldn't do location shoot properly.. on top it was 43 degrees Celsius so bride was exhausted throughout the day but everything else went according to the plan. I usually specialise in night time / indoor reception & lighting so reception was a breeze for me.. but got to learn a lot about getting ready shots, detail shots and at the actual ceremony.. bumping my ISO up to 6400 in the church and shot all ambient! Church shoot was the biggest eye opener for me.. its no way near as easy as people might think it might be.. especially the church we shot in had very low ambient light with very high / curved black ceilings so there was no point using flash.

Very happy with the results (looking at raw pictures).. I shot 1285 pictures all up.. i think he shot about 2K+.. will post some pictures once i get some time to process them!

Sounds like you had a great time Manav.
Why did you use the white lens all day? Why not mix it with your red rings?

Basically the other photographer had that focal length covered.. and he shot a LOT in that focal range.. 85L i find too slow for weddings (in terms of focus speed) unless its location shoot/couple shoot where you pose the couple and have plenty of time.. thats where it shines.. but the location shoot got cancelled due to extremely hot weather so I never ended up using the 85L at all. I was basically told to make sure that we got plenty of 100mm+ shots (mostly tight crops) with plenty of bokeh in the back (was shooting at f/2.8 - f/4 the whole day).. while he did all the wide / macro / group / architecture type of shots.
